In addition to being an award winning video-producer and screenwriter, I have an astounding lack of hand-eye coordination. Seriously, if there is a foul ball or a homerun heading for us, plan to play the rebound. But despite this occasionally life-threatening condition, my summers are built around the Texas Rangers and the rest of MLB. I love the players, I love the history, and I love the fact that on any given night, only 15 cathedrals across our country are host to a MLB game. Over the years, I’ve been to 15 of the Rangers’ 16 home openers at The Ballpark in Arlington (Curse you, 1995 work schedule!). I was in the outfield bleachers as Nolan Ryan struck out #5000 and down the first base line as he punched out Robin Ventura. My darling wife tolerates my quixotic quest to see every ballpark, and my two wonderful children were rocked to sleep every night to the song “Take me Out To The Ballgame”. I’m teaching them the infield fly rule, how to keep score, and where to drop peanut shells, but someone else will probably have to teach them how to catch a foul ball.
