<intro>
And supporters of the BCS all cheer "Yay!"

Not me. I have been rooting for chaos. I was rooting for the undefeated underdogs. But for the BCS, Iowa falling by the wayside is one down, three to go.

Northwestern (6-4) 17, #4 Iowa (9-1) 10

The Hawkeyes scored all of their points in the first quarter, jumping out to a 10-0 lead. But Northwestern did what no other Iowa opponent could do. Iowa lived dangerously with several close calls, but Northwestern led 14-10 at the half, and added a field goal in the second half while keeping Iowa off the scoreboard. It was the 5th time that Iowa trailed while entering the fourth quarter, but the first time they lost.

Iowa's Ricky Stanzi was injured in the second quarter on a play that led to Northwestern's first touchdown. Greg Shelley wrote a Playerpress article about how the Hawkeyes were not getting respect. Now with their first loss, Iowa will fall in the standings and have no chance at a claim to the National Championship.

#6 TCU (9-0) 55, San Diego State (4-5) 12

Unlike Iowa, TCU had no problems taking care of San Diego State. They have a difficult match coming up against Utah. However, if they survive Utah, the Frogs go to Wyoming, and end the season hosting New Mexico.

#7 Boise State (9-0) 55, Louisiana Tech (3-6) 45

On Friday Night, the Broncos also kept their undefeated season alive. Next they host Idaho, go to Utah State, and host Nevada and New Mexico State to end the season.
</intro>

    <intro>
The BCS may be the most evil thing in sports.

OK, that might be over dramatic. The BCS is not quite as bad as the evil empire (NY Yankees) or the evil umpires who should be replaced by modern technology (I mean, honestly, we got rid of the horse drawn carriage, do we really want to cling to the "human element of the game"?)

Still, the BCS is evil enough, depriving college football fans from a playoff system. I heard a radio show this weekend where the host claimed that under the current system, every game is a playoff game. Once you lose, you are eliminated. Whether or not that is true, what happens if you do not lose?

Going into week 10, there are 7 teams at the top of the BCS poll that remain undefeated.

#1 Florida Gators (8-0)

#3 Alabama Crimson Tide (8-0)

Without knowing what will happen to the rest of the undefeated teams, it is clear that one of these teams will be eliminated in the SEC Championship. So in one sense, college football fans will get at least one playoff game. Florida features the former Heisman winner Tim Tebow, who last weekend passed Herschel Walker for the SEC record for rushing TDs. Bamababe2k9, who often writes on playerpress about Alabama football, discussed some of these issues in her article last week "...bringing the BCS to its knees".

#2 Texas Longhorns (8-0)

Texas is in an interesting spot, because they have a clear shot to the National Championship game, and do not face a major obstacle like the SEC having two undefeated teams. Texas hosts Central Florida this weekend, then goes to Baylor, plays Kansas, and closes the season at Texas A&M.

#4 Iowa Hawkeyes (9-0)

In Wikipedia, under the definition of winning ugly, is a picture of the '09 Hawkeyes. But the fact is, they keep winning. I am not a fan of Iowa, but I am rooting for them because I think the longer this undefeated dilemma continues, the more interesting it will be for the fans. Although, in the interest of full disclosure, I must admit before I was born, my dad taught at Iowa. When I was younger and learning to read, I saw IOWA on my dad's sweatshirt, and was pretty sure that it really said DAD. I must have been 2 or so, but have been reminded about this my whole life. Plus, I always liked Alan Alda as Hawkeye.

#5 Cincinnati Bearcats (8-0)

The pride of the Big East, the Bearcats have three home games in November. On the 7th they play Connecticut, then there are a pair of Friday Night games, West Virginia on the 13th and Illinois on the 27th. On December 5th, Cincinnati goes to Pittsburgh.

#6 TCU Frogs (8-0)

Texas Christian University travels this week to San Diego State, then hosts Utah. In Bamababe2k9's article (link above) Stacey predicts the Utah game as the end of the undefeated run for TCU. However, if they survive Utah, the Frogs go to Wyoming, and end the season hosting New Mexico.

#7 Boise State Broncos (8-0)

Known for their unique blue field, the Broncos have 3 more home games on that home turf. They also have two road games. This Friday, they are on the road at Louisiana Tech. Then they host Idaho, go to Utah State, and host Nevada and New Mexico State to end the season.
</intro>

    <intro>

It was another pretty decent week for the Big East as the conference went 6-2 including a shocking win by Syracuse in OT. The two losses came to teams in the far superior SEC on the road. Still, the conference is playing above my expectations to this point.

There are only a couple games coming up this week that should be tough for the contenders, but then again Washington beat USC and Florida State demolished BYU last week.

Standings from top to bottom:

#14 Cincinnati (3-0, 1-0)

They continue to move up the rankings as those around them fall, but a 28-18 win over Oregon State is more impressive than you might think. The Pac-10 is a tricky conference to predict and is always full of upsets. Any time you beat a team ranked in the top 25 it is a big win. Especially on the road in Corvallis. This week the Bearcats take on Fresno State, a team that historically feasts on being the underdog. It will be the second straight ranked opponent for the Bulldogs, who fell 51-34 against No. 10 Boise State last week.

Pittsburgh (3-0, 0-0)

Navy may not be a premier team in the NCAA, but I consider Pitt's 27-14 victory over the Midshipmen a good win. Their option running game can beat anyone on a given day. Up next is a game against North Carolina State who lost a tough 7-3 game to South Carolina before wiping out Murray State and Gardner-Webb by a combined 109-21 score. Could be a trap game for Pitt if they're not careful.

South Florida (3-0, 0-0)

Not exactly a big test in terms of finding out where they are as a team, but a 59-0 win is a 59-0 win. The Bulls get a huge test Saturday against No. 18 Florida State who savagely beat down the formerly No. 7 Cougars of BYU 54-28 in Provo. The Seminoles have been a strange team so far, losing a close game to Miami then barely escaping with a win against Jacksonville State before the romp in BYU. It will be the untested Bulls vs. the inconsistent Noles. Should be very interesting.

Connecticut (2-1, 0-0)

UConn gets a bit of a rest this week after a good 30-22 win over Baylor on the road. Rhode Island comes to town and I didn't even know they had a football team. To be honest I didn't even know they had a college. Weird.

West Virginia (2-1, 0-0)

The Mountaineers came up a bit short against a superior Auburn team on the road. No real shock there. West Virginia gets a week off before playing Colorado next Thursday.

Louisville (1-1, 0-0)

I hope Kentucky enjoyed that 31-27 win over the Cardinals, because now they get No.1 Florida and No. 3 Alabama in consecutive weeks. Kudos to the schedule makers for that little turnaround. Louisville has another tough game this week against Utah on the road. The Utes lost their top 25 ranking last week at the hands of Oregon. I expect a huge revenge win by Utah.

Syracuse (1-2, 0-0)

Alright, so Northwestern isn't great but I expected them to be able to beat freaking Syracuse. I guess I should give them a little credit for going out and doing it though. So here *throws a handful of credit*. Enjoy it.

Rutgers (2-1, 0-1)

They played a pretty uninspired game against Florida International before coming away with a 23-15 victory. They get to play an absolutely terrible Maryland team next, but they need to play better and quick if they fancy themselves a conference presence.
</intro>

    <intro>
     Remember waaaay back to the very beginning of September, and how antsy we were for the season to kick off? It seems just yesterday we were huddled around a box of Krispy Kremes at the office trading “I can't believe it's” about LeGarrette Blount and his right hook (future in boxing perhaps?). It is hard to believe we are finished with three full weeks of amateur football already. Time flies when you're having fun.

     Since I don’t have 36 HD Televisions (with picture-in-picture) to watch every game, and believe me, I wish I did, here is a rundown of up-to-the-nano-second top-25 action, with a small dose of those ‘other’ teams for good measure.

     The race for Pasadena started Thursday, September 3rd with <st1:street w:st="on"><st1:address w:st="on">Boise St.</st1:address></st1:street> defeating Oregon, in Boise, on the smurf turf, 19-8. I wish I could brag that I was the first person to say the season started with a bang, but I might be the 1,279th person to use that line, so I’ll say the season’s first game was a slugfest instead. Oh, that’s been used too? Damn. At any rate, week one gave us a taste of what to expect for the next four months, and it should be entertaining to say the least, even if you’re a Big 10 fan.

WEEK 1 –

     Finally, the kids were able to get out there, run around, knock each other senseless and have something to show for their grass stains, cuts, cramps, bumps and bruises. There were close games and blowouts. There were upsets and sacrificial lambs. All in all, for me, it was just nice to have something to watch during the day on Saturday instead of my usually extremely hectic schedule that included breakfast, laundry, lunch, a nap, more laundry, and maybe a re-run of Friends or two. The eating and nap are still a part of my Saturday though.

     Two top 10 teams saw their championship hopes all but disappear before returning home. Florida narrowly escaped the upset-minded powerhouse that is Charleston Southern (it was only 62-3). Texas and USC also handled their inferior opponents with ease. The other top-five team, Alabama (fourth), handled Virginia Tech’s (ranked seventh) inept offense in what was essentially a neutral site home game for the ‘Tide in the Georgia Dome. In total, five top-25 teams were handed their first loss, including number three Oklahoma, who lost QB Sam Bradford for a month or so. I bet he’s happy he came back for another year. Only FloridaState, however, lost to an unranked opponent (Miami, who, in their favor, has been more than impressive so far).

     A win is a win, so they say, and although OhioState, LSU, and Iowa all walked away with the all-important ‘W’ on the first weekend, it was a struggle against unranked teams. OhioState needed every bit of the 60 minutes to beat Navy, in the Horseshoe (yes, at <st1:street w:st="on"><st1:address w:st="on">Ohio St.</st1:address></st1:street>) no less, 31-27. Looking ahead to USC perhaps? LSU had a scare at Washington, winning 31-23. This is the same Huskies’ team that went 0-12 a season ago, well, minus Tyrone Willingham who was replaced by former USC offensive coordinator Steve Sarkisian. The Hawkeyes of Iowa, ranked 21st, beat Northern Iowa by a single point, 17-16, only after blocking not one, but two field goal attempts in the closing seconds.

Here is a breakdown of some interesting numbers throughout week one:

9 – Shutouts. Seven of which, the winning team scored at least 40 points.

Spring practice and training camp in August can only tell you so much. The nature of coaching suggests they will never be satisfied, nor should they be, because there is always room for improvement. When practices and scrimmages end and real games begin, only then can you gauge your team’s mettle.

After storming to a 21-0 first quarter lead, the Yellow Jackets had to come from behind in the fourth quarter following Clemson’s 27 straight unanswered points. Two fourth quarter FGs sealed the 30-27 victory for Tech. It was yet another thrilling Thursday night game.

Everyone figured the Cowboy defense would be the achilles heel, but not necessarily against Houston. OhioState snatched defeat from the hands of victory after leading USC for nearly the entire game. USC had a late touchdown drive, led by freshman quarterback Matt Barkely in front of 106,000 screaming Buckeye fans, who left the stadium with an expression on their face that looked like someone ran over their dog. The Trojans left for the airport, battered but not beaten, stealing an 18-15 victory.

     With all of the hype that surrounds Notre Dame, I freely admit, I had a grin larger than the Cheshire cat could ever muster after seeing the final score from Ann Arbor. Notre Dame traveled to the Big House and lost to Michigan, 38-34, on a last second touchdown pass (okay, last 11-second TD pass) by freshman quarterback Tate Forcier. The only thing better than the Irish losing is the fashion in which they lost. Awesome.

Central Michigan, led by phenom QB Dan LeFevour who threw for 328 yards and three scores, topped Sparty in East Lansing 29-27 after recovering an onside kick with less than a minute to play which led to a game winning FG. Utah used 17 fourth quarter points to sidestep an upset-minded San Jose State Spartan team, led by head coach Dick Tomey.

All over the country there were games that captivated not only fans of the teams involved, but casual channel surfers, like me, as well. As I did with week one, here are a few numbers to remember from week two's action:

4 – Number of shutouts, all of which were by 40+ points. It's always good to see parity.

11 – Number of teams who put up 40+ points.

8 – Number of teams who dropped a 50 spot on their opponent.

2 – Teams that scored more than 60 points. NC State and Oklahoma. Sam Bradford who?

70-3 – One team broke 70 (10 TDs). I think it's safe to say Cincinnati annihilated <st1:street w:st="on"><st1:address w:st="on">SE Missouri St</st1:address></st1:street>.

92 – Most total points for a single game. Toledo beat up on visiting Colorado, 54-38.

Included in those three bonus-ball games was Wisconsin over <st1:street w:st="on"><st1:address w:st="on">Fresno St.</st1:address></st1:street> in 2OT.

WEEK 3 –

     My first reaction when I saw the slate of games for this week was *yawn*. There are maybe four games that I was interested in. I was dead wrong.

     The season's third Thursday night battle pitted two ACC rivals vying for conference supremacy. Georgia Tech strolled into Miami on a four-game winning streak over the 'Canes. Building a 17-3 halftime lead, the U never looked back. Gone is the four game slide against the Yellow Jackets. Gone too, is the perception that Miami is a has-been. Look out folks, the Hurricanes are back. Maybe not on the national level quite yet, but in both their games (2-0), they have knocked off two ranked opponents. The Hokies of Virginia Tech welcome the 'Canes a week from Saturday. Whoever wins this game can call themselves the king of the ACC, for now.

     Saturday saw five teams in the top 25 lose their first game including, for the third week in a row, two from the top 10. Third ranked USC lost at Washington, 16-13. Last year, the Trojans lost to <st1:street w:st="on"><st1:address w:st="on">Oregon St.</st1:address></st1:street> on the road, the week following their beat down of OhioState. It was the Huskies turn this year to knock off USC a week after a big win in Columbus. USC can forget about an umpteenth consecutive berth to the Rose Bowl. Number seven in the nation, BYU, lost an offensive battle to the Seminoles of Florida State, in Utah, 54-28. A week following the 'Noles ugly 19-9 win over Jacksonville State, Bobby Bowden had his troops ready for battle against the Cougars.

     Also around the country, host Oregon ended Utah's (18th) BCS hopes with a 31-24 win in Eugene. The Cornhuskers from Nebraska traveled to Blacksburg to visit the Hokies of Virginia Tech. The Blackshirts came out of the locker room after halftime with a 12-10 lead. The third quarter did not see a single point scored. With under five minutes to go, Nebraska added a FG to increase their lead to five, but with 1:22 remaining in the game, Tyrod Taylor led the Hokies on an 88-yard drive culminating in the game winning TD with :33 left on the clock. The rest was just a formality.

     The top two ranked teams in the nation, Florida and Texas, both limped away from home games, each winning by 10 points over conference opponents. Fifth ranked PennState, led by the ageless JoePa, beat Temple 31-6. While you may be wondering why I even mentioned this, it is because Nittany Lions head Coach Joe Paterno is now 26-0 all-time against Temple. Temple isn't exactly a football factory, but 26 times in a row is impressive against anyone.

Week three by the numbers:

93 – Most total points for a single game. #23 Georgia won at Arkansas 52-41.

18 – Least amount of points scored in a single game. MississippiState went to Vandy and won, 15-3.

     It has been a crazy year so far, and we are just getting started. Top ten teams are dropping like Sam Bradford in Norman. It seems as if Texas and Florida are destined for Pasadena the way everyone ranked below them is trading spots left and right. Washington has two more wins than their total from last year, including a monumental upset of USC. The SEC is strong once again, with five top 25 teams. A few non-BCS schools are still alive, not the ones we thought would be (aside from Boise St), but nonetheless. All is well in the world of college football. I can't wait for the next 12 weeks.
</intro>

    <intro>
     Let me begin with a little bit of background.

     I was born in Berkeley, within a fifteen minute walk from the University of California. I've lived my entire life here. My loyalties are with nearly all Bay Area teams ( the lone exception being the Gollden State Warrirors.)

     I have been a Cal Bear fan since the days of Chuck Muncie and Wesley Walker. Although my passion for football and love for Cal wasn't as concrete as it was in other sports, I did go through the motions and maintained a somewhat shaky alliance with the team.

     Over the past decade, or so, I have been proud to say that I've been married to Cal Bear football. The minister of that wedding was probably former coach Steve Mariucci, who made them so attractive that saying "I do" was a mere formality.

     He helped turn the "ugly duckling" into...( you get my drift.)

      I truly love the Bears.

     Perhaps there are too many fish in the sea and I have trouble putting on my blinders when another beauty waltzes in my direction. Every so often a Michigan or West Virginia gets a bit too close and I find myself going astray. I even felt fondness toward Ball State, last season.

     The Bears, under Jeff Tetford have become media darlings and my football wife is being stared at by fans across the country and I'm very proud--not jealous at all. Because, at the end of the day, Cal is mine.

     However, I am a man and weaknesses exist within all men. Sometimes we see our wives not living up to what's expected, even to the point of embarrassment. Then there are those times that we stray because the grass seems greener on the other side.

     In my case, the grass (or artificial turf ) is bluer on the other side.

     That's why, I have to clear my conscience, today. I don't want this to get out of hand, although it may be too late.

     I have committed the sin of football adultery. I have been seeing another team on the side. Yes Cal is my wife...but Boise State is my mistress.

     Boise State? I've never set foot in Idaho..in my life. I had dig up an old Rand-McNally atlas, just to find the damn place.

      Ah, but that beautiful blue field and the excitement they generate on it...absolute bliss!

      The Boise State Broncos are a football lover's dream. They are so much fun to spend Saturdays admiring. In recent years, they've been lurking around on Friday nights, Thursday's, sometime.

     The other day, they and Fresno State racked up well over a half mile in total offensive yards (987, to be exact,) in addition to 507 yards in kick and punt returns. They beat the Bulldogs 51-34 and that was not out of the ordinary for the Broncos.

     They create excitement like no other team in NCAA Football.

     Perhaps I am among many others who feel this way and I'm not going to admit being wrong about it or ashamed of it, either. I just need to clear the air.

     Yes, I know that everyone who spends time with Boise State gets the same excitement. I mean, you know that when you take out the Broncos, there will be fireworks...you will score...repeatedly.

     I'm forced to admit this affair because of possibilities. Both Cal and Boise State are among Top10 teams. The posibility exist that they could play for a National Championship. I really hope so. After all, what man wouldn't want to be a spectator when his wife and mistress go at it for a three hours.

     I am loyal, though. Should Cal and Boise face each other in any Bowl game, I want Cal to prevail. But, it'll be so much fun to watch.

     What I don't want to do is wake up in January and see neither of them in the BCS National Championship Game. I'm still ashamed of myself for the two years that I had to ride with USC in the title game, just out of Pac10 loyalty.

     It was not a comfortable situation to wake up with the wrong Trojan on my nightstand. I do mean helmet, in this case.

     With USC's loss to Washington the other day, Cal can begin conference play with a good feeling about their title chances. At the very least, my wife can bring me Roses in January.

     Sure, I appreciate the recent gifts, my Bears have brought me, but Poinsettias and Emeralds just don't cut it anymore A couple of years ago, Boise State gave me a real thrill--a Fiesta. That is something that Cal has never given me.

     Maybe this is the season, I get to celebrate with a gleaming crystal football. But, make no mistake about it, I'll love my wife forever. Even if I have to "settle" for Roses.

     Until then, my affair is not over. I'll have to work on it.

     ROLL ON, YOU BEARS!!!
</intro>

The Michigan Wolverines’ college football history was laid to rest last season, but may have been revived from the dead. With the season opener at the intimidating Michigan Stadium, Rodriguez’s troubles were not on the football field rather allegations of the new coach.

Ann Arbor residents love their team. My uncle has worked at the stadium for 25 years and he was not hopeful for this season. Granted, Western Michigan isn’t on the list of top teams for 2009-10, but they did play decently last year. Every Michigan fan had a nervous pit in their stomach this morning over reliving last season’s debacle with Appalachia State.

Impressive drives down the field sent the 106,000 fans into frenzy. Michigan Wolverine fans expect greatness. Rich Rodriguez needs to deliver this year and knew he had to win this opener.

Look out for freshman QB Tate Forcier, who was commented upon with the statement, “may the Forcier be with you.” He opened his debut with a touchdown just under 11 minutes into the first period. The opening seven-play drive stunned, but delighted the crew at Michigan Stadium. He kept it going to greet the first win of the 2009-10 season.

Fast kid Denard Robinson’s 16 sped down the field and into the end zone with no problems at all. Michigan’s receiver speed with the QB position’s stealth will be a basis for beating down the bad press and up the ranks.

Michigan’s defense stepped up against Western Michigan’s difficulty of play. The defense of the Wolverines has always been their fierceness, and today the teeth were bared. But, will this wall of maize and blue make it past this week and put up the points against Notre Dame? This win for Michigan gives them a respectable nod for South Bend next Saturday. Michigan wins 31-7; Notre Dame wins 35-0.

    <intro>
When Coach Paul “Bear” Bryant died in January 1983, it was not only the death of an icon, but the death of an era in Alabama football too. For almost 30 years, this man and his program dominated college football. But since his death, Alabama football has gone through several changes; some good and some bad but all have affect the program one way or another.

The hiring of Ray Perkins-Coach Bryant’s retirement and his death a month later shocked everyone, but in the most surprising turn of events, Bryant picked Ray Perkins to succeed him. Perkins was the head coach of the New York Giants at the time. Though Perkins struggled his first year as Alabama head coach, he had a pretty decent career and kept the ship on track most of the time he was there.

The Emergence of Auburn Football-Why is this important? Because most of time Auburn football was not even a blip on the radar and not even close to the achievements of Alabama until former Bryant assistant Pat Dye came along. Dye not only evened the score, but for a time in the 1980’s helped the Tigers move ahead of Bama in the state. Because of Dye they landed eventual Heisman Trophy winner Bo Jackson, moved the traditional Alabama/Auburn game in 1989 to the Auburn campus for the first time ever and most importantly the Tigers became a national powerhouse.

The Hiring of Gene Stallings-When Alabama fans heard that former St. Louis Cardinals head coach Gene Stallings would take over as coach after Bill Curry left, there were a lot of snickers from Auburn fans and worry among the Bama fan base. There were reasons to be worried. Stallings didn’t have a stellar record as the Cardinals head coach, so there was no reason to believe that he would fair much better with the Crimson Tide either. Stallings had a rocky beginning too at Bama, but after his first year in 1990, two years later he went on to lead the Crimson Tide’s to its only national championship since the death of Bryant.

Probation-If you wonder why the Alabama football has not been a constant winner since Bryant’s death, this maybe the number one reason: Probation. Bama has been hit three times in the last several years with some form of probation. Probation nearly crippled the program. Most experts said the second probation was the closes thing to the death penalty levied against a program since SMU had to disband its football program because of probation back in the 1980’s.

Coaching Scandals-If it wasn’t probation that nearly killed the program, it was the coaching carousel. After Stallings it was Mike Dubose then, Dennis Franchione, Mike Price and finally Mike Shula. Both Dubose and Price brought embarrassment and shame to the football program with their rumor affairs and involvement with drinking and partying. For awhile the ship was righted again when Athletic Director Mal Moore hired Dennis Franchione, but Coach Fran didn’t like the prospect of rebuilding a team on probation nor did he like the spotlight being squarely on him so he left for the greener pastures of Texas A&M. Since no one else wanted that responsibility either, Moore had to turn to former Alabama quarterback Mike Shula, an assistant coach in the NFL with no head coaching experience. Shula brought back a sense of pride and dignity to the program and set the stage for the arrival of Nick Saban.

The Firing of Tommy Tubberville- Tubberville’s firing is important because of the timing of the whole situation. This man was coming off his sixth victory in a row over Alabama and was on top of the world that is until Nick Saban brought in the number one recruiting class two months later which included the number one recruit in the state, Julio Jones, and then it went downhill from there. Tubberville’s recruiting practices and his coaching methods were called into question especially after the team struggled last year with a 5-7 record which included a 36-0 loss in Tuscaloosa. Auburn had their first coaching change in years and brought in a coach with a sub par record while firing a coach that brought them on the brink of their first national championship since 1957.

The Hiring of Nick Saban-Not a single sports expert in the country thought Alabama had a chance in hell in hiring the Miami Dolphins head coach away, but rumblings that Saban was not happy in Miami brought Mal Moore to South Florida to make him an offer he couldn’t refuse: Big money and total control over the program. Most thought it was a risk, but so far the risk has paid off with two top recruiting classes, a number one ranking in football, a Western Division title and a 12-2 record. Most experts see Saban bringing Alabama its first national championship to the Capstone sooner then later.

</intro>

    <intro>
Good news Bama fans, Coach Saban has signed a new deal that will keep him as our head coach until 2017. No terms were announced but one assumes that this is is basically the same contract he signed a few years ago. Why is this important you may ask?

Well hopefully we will keep other teams at bay from going after him such as a certain school in South Bend, IN who apparently is not only interested in Urban Meyer but Coach Saban as well.

What impressed me the most was him restating his and his family's committiment to staying with the University of Alabama and that he wants to finish out his career in Tuscaloosa. Some people may still dealt what the coach says, before hopefully this will shut up the doubters for awhile and scare the crap out of the rest of the SEC.

In other Bama News:

Quarterback Signee Phil Sims (no silly not that Sims) Phillip Sims out of VA who just signed with Alabama recently had an impressive night on the field Friday per Gentry Estes of the Mobile Press. He was 12-14 254 yards and one touchdown. Not bad huh? Makes you think of that other guy who use to play for the New York Giants.

I just saw Coach Saban's ESPN commerical. Cute kinda funny. Not bad check it out. I'm sure it's on Ytube by now. Ok folks, keep checking back for updates and articles.

</intro>

The bad news came in early June, when Dominique Davis, the Eagles' suspecting starting quarterback, announced that he was transferring schools after being put on academic suspension at BC. At that point, Spaziani had his offensive line set up strong enough to compete with the other teams in the ACC. Losing Davis, his quarterback, the center of his carefully constructed football game blue-print, could have been enough to put any head coach in panic mode...

Not Coach Spaziani. He is determined to make his first years as the Eagles' collegiate level head coach count for the best.

Almost immediately following Davis's announcement, Spaziani, backed by the BC football organization recruited Dave Shinskie, a twenty-five year old former baseball player and high school football stallion looking for a chance to throw around with the big boys.

So far it seems that Spaziani will replace Davis without much trouble, considering the players now competing for BC's quarterback position, veteran Jason Tuggle, former red-shirt Chase Rettig, and new recruit Dave Shinskie, are well-equipped with the athletic talent to lead their team to success.

    <intro>
Going into a new football season always comes with many predictions, and varying thoughts of what may happen. Here are my thoughts of the Top 10 of 2009, and their full potential records!

1) Florida Gators (13-0) : The Gators have remarkable skills in every position, and unmatchable teamwork that helps them constantly be at the top. With Tim Tebow returning to play god for another season, and most of the team back on his line, its going to be hard to find a loss for them. Last season, they had a spoof loss early on in the season, but all of their toughest games, including the national championship game seemed to be smooth sailing for the Gators. There tougher games this season will be, LSU(away), Georgia(jacksonville), and FSU. But if the Gators are anything like what they should be this year, their only true challenge will come in the BCS Championship Game at the very end of the season.

2)Texas Longhorns (12-1) : Another tough team with an all star quarterback. McCoy is still young, but he is a truly strong quarterback who knows his team like the back of his hand. Last years major embarrassment against Oklahoma, and close call with Ohio State gave Texas a tough end to a good season. The Big 12 South was a powerhouse last year, but this year Tech should be easier for Texas, with their main opponent being their lifelong rivals, Oklahoma. Their tough games this season include Texas Tech, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, and Texas A&M. The five of these teams together always cause issues due to their constant big 12 battle. However, I feel that Texas will be able to prevail against all, and give Florida a run for their money in the BCS Championship Game.

3) USC Trojans (12-1) : The Trojans have similar teams to the top two, in having very well groomed players, but the difference is, they just lost their star quarterback! Luckily the Trojans always have a pretty readily available bench. Their season starts off almost immeadiately with a game thats expected to be the biggest out of conference game this season against OSU, which will be a huge challenge as a night game in Columbus. The question for USC is who will they use as their main QB? EIther new strong true freshman, Matt Barkley, or their other 20 year old freshman, Aaron Corp. Either will be strong for sure, but will they be able to hold up against their toughest games of the season? These games include OSU(away), Oregon(away), Cal, Arizona, and of course their bowl game!

4) Oklahoma Sooners (11-2): The Sooners left last season with a big chip on their shoulders anfter not being able to complete their game well against Florida in the national championship. However, they have alot to be proud of, managing to pull away as the leader of the big 12 south was a huge feat! This season, with much of the line gone for Oklahoma, they are very lucky to have their Heisman QB, Sam Bradford back and ready to prove himself. The team is yearning for the Championship ring, but this just doesn't seem to be their season. Their toughest and most crucial game will be Texas midseason, but following that their final 4 games of the season are all tough against Nebraska, Texas A&M, Texas Tech,and Oklahoma State respectively.

5)The Ohio State Buckeyes (11-2): The Buckeyes had a rough time last season with two major games resulting in completely bogus losses. First, their lost to Penn State by a poorly called game, nearly caused them the Big 10 title, which they easily deserved. Secondly, their strong played game against Texas in their bowl game should have been an easy win, but unfortunately resulted in a loss somehow. However, Tressel and the team are ready to come back and prove their strengths this season. With a very large portion of the team gone, it is up to Terrelle Pryor, the true sophomore to hold his team together. Ohio State has over 25 great recruits who are anxious to help, and take this team to a place in the top 5 they deserve to be. Their tough games of the season include USC at home, PSU in happy valley, and Michigan in Ann Arbor. Although Michigan doesn't hold a candle to Ohio State, or pretty much any team in College Football right now, this rivalry is always interesting, and being in Ann Arbor may bring a loopy ride for the buckeyes.

6) Alabama Crimson Tide (10-2): As much as Alabama could have been great this season. due to their probation and inability to play in bowl games, they are not really that deservant of this spot. However, they are a great team, and will likely win at least 10 games this season.

7)LSU Tigers (10-3): LSU Tigers have always been a tough team, even with a weaker past few years, they always manage to pull out some great games, and show off their skills. This year the Tigers are ready to rally to stay in the top 10 for the whole season. The middle of their season features two away games at Mississippi State and Georgia, followed by two home games against florida and Auburn which will all be tough. In addition, they have to face the Crimson Tide at Alabama which is sure to be a great game. LSU is expecting their young quarterback, Jarrett Lee to really pull it together, and help the team prove their strength in the SEC.

8) Virginia Tech Hokies (10-3): VA Tech is always a decent team, at worst, but this year is expected to be one of Techs finest classes yet. With Tyrod Taylor back in the quarterback position to lead the team, and Darren Evans ready to run wherever he can, there is a good chance this team will be the stars of the ACC this year. Their toughest games with be; Alabama, Miami, GA Tech(away), and perhaps North Carolina. Regardless of their few tough games, if TEch plays how they are expected to, this will likely be their greatest season in a long time.

9) Penn State Nittany Lions (10-3) : The Big10 is frequently critiqued for their weakness, but two teams from the Big 10 are always top contenders! With JoePa hopefully back on his feet this season, and the bulk of the team back on the field and ready to play, the only question is; who will pose a challenge for Penn State? Last year many Penn State fans were very upset when Ohio State shared the Big 10 title, even though PSU beat Ohio State. This year, Ohio State is ranked higher, and has a tougher schedule, AND has to face their conference rivals in Happy Valley, which is sure to pose a problem for Ohio State. However, PSU also has to face; Illinois, Northwestern, and Michigan State away which are all potentially threats; especially seeing what Iowa did to Penn State last season at their home turf. Iowa may be a potential threat to PSU as well, but being that that is a hope game, JoePa and the crew are certainly hoping it wont be. Only time (and Terrelle Pryor) will tell what will happen with the Lions this season.

10) Oklahoma State Cowboys (10-3) : Alot of people think of the Oklahoma Sooners when they think of Oklahoma, or Ohio State when they see the abbreviation OSU...but don't be fooled by the funny cowboy logo, Oklahoma State means business! The Big 12 South will be a very tough place to play football yet again this season, but OSU is hoping to prevail. Their season starts of with the number 12 team, Georgia, who believes they are more fit for the top 10, and will surely put up a big fight to prove it! Zac Robinson, their star quarterback is ready to take his team to the top, as he try's to become the more well known of the two superstar quarterbacks from Oklahoma. Other tough games for the Cowboys include Texas, Texas Tech, and their final game of the season AT Oklahoma! This season is sure to be a tough one, but hopefully the Cowboys can hold in together, and remain in the top 10!
</intro>
