Wii Summer Preview
Written by Corey Atkinson, Sunday April 26 2009

Summer not only brings blockbuster movies, but the season also brings with it some of the hottest games of the year.
Wii has had a good life so far, but the console’s sales are beginning to slow down. The Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 are beginning to catch up to the little white console. Both Sony and Microsoft have been claiming the Wii is collecting dust and gamers are turning their heads towards high-definition gaming. Other problems that have plagued the system included customers not buying third party games and the high cost of the full Wii experience ($40 for a controller+ $20 for a nunchuk+ $20 Motion Plus).
The summer should be exciting for the Wii with the introduction of the Wii Motion Plus. This new accessory will attach itself to the bottom of the Wii remote. The Wii Motion Plus will bring accurate real time movements to games. Nintendo claims that the Wii Motion Plus will bring new life and excitement to gamers yearning for a new Wii experience.
Let’s take a look at the Wii upcoming schedule.

Punch-Out
Punch-Out is back! The legendary boxing series which made it debut on the NES is being remade for the Wii. Mike Tyson will not be in the game, but Nintendo has brought along some of the original boxers and some new ones too.
This game will a slightly similar to the boxing game included in Wii Sports but with better controls and graphics. Players can take control of the legendary underdog from the original game, Little Mac. Players will find familiar names like Glass Joe, King Hippo and trainer Doc Louis. Nintendo claims that when you punch with the Wii remote, Little Mac will throw a punch as well. “Additionally, you can control hooks and jabs by combining motion control with control-stick movement The motion-sensing Wii Remote and Nunchuk controllers turn real-life swings into on-screen punches, so anyone can play. The game can also be played with classic NES-style controls by turning the Wii Remote sideways.”
The game will be released May 18.

Wii Sports Resort
Wii Sports Resort is the sequel to the original Wii Sports, which was included with every Wii. The game’s setting takes place on a beach. New games include Frisbee, jet skiing, and sword play. Other games have not been released yet.
The most exciting aspect of the new game is the use of the Wii Motion Plus. Every game will be package with the new accessory. Wii Motion Plus should bring excitement to the family experience and competition.
The game will be released on July 24.
Ghostbusters: The Video Game
Yes, the Ghostbusters are back to kick some ghost butt. The new game will be released on not only the Playstation 3, but on Xbox 360, Wii, Playstation 2, DS and PC. The game’s storyline was written by Dan Aykroyd and Harold Rammis. The game will feature all the original Ghostbusters, including Aykroyd, Rammis, Bill Murphy, and Ernie Hudson. Rick Moranis and Sigourney Weaver decline to be in the new video game, but Alyssa Milano has stepped in to play the new love interest.
Aykroyd said the videogame is essentially Ghostbusters 3. The game takes place 2 years after the events of Ghostbusters 2. Players will take control of a new recruit who will play along with the original Ghostbusters. Players can expect to taken down a horde of ghosts. Other details of the storyline have kept under wrap. It has been reported that players will encounter many of the ghosts from the previous Ghostbusters films including Slimer and the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man.
The game will feature multiplayer and co-op. IGN detailed the multiplayer experience. “Survival pits you against a "paranormal onslaught;" Containment is all about capturing every single ghost out there; Destruction charges you with destroying a bunch of ghost-spawning artifacts; you'll need to protect Egon's devices in Protection; Thief wants you to stop ghosts from stealing artifacts and Slime Dunk asks you to "dunk the most slimers," which I'm assuming means slamming them into the ghost traps.
Sport Games
EA is jumping on the Wii Motion Plus boat. The new accessory can be used in the New Tiger Woods game. Your swing will be more accurate, or not. Other new additions to the game real-time weather, new broadcast experience, and precision putting. Grand Slam Tennis will also use the new accessory. Both games will come in a regular edition or a premium edition for $10 more and included Wii Motion Plus.
Movie Video Games
Along with the blockbuster movies coming to theatres, their movie tie-ins will be coming to console near you. You catch games for such movies as Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince, Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs, GI Joe: Rise of the Cobra, and Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen.
