Wherever You Go, There You Are

Kerri Senno Written by Kerri Senno, Wednesday November 18 2009

I have not written much lately. One may attribute this to the fact that the baseball season is over, that I have been really busy at work, or that I purchased the newest Mario Bros game for Wii. These are all well and good excuses, but I have compiled a list of the underlying reasons why I have been as absent on Playerpress as the original Aunt on Fresh Prince.

1.  I am lamenting over my Fantasy Football team taking a paralleled dive of the New York Giants. After taking a 5-1 start, I have dropped 4 straight, some of which in dramatic fashion.

2.Similarly, I have been busy at work creating a time machine in which I go back in time and do not draft Jay Cutler.

3. I saw a plaque in Hallmark the other day commemorating the 2009 Mets Season. The card simply said Inaugural Season at Citi Field, with an attached baseball card of Jose Reyes and David Wright. David Wright hit 10 homeruns and Jose Reyes played in 36 games. Sorry “Lynn’s Hallmark,” but this is not a season I want to remember or mull over in this venue any more.

4.The Yankees beat the Phillies in the World Series, remember?

5. The New York Jets find new and excruciating ways to lose each week. If I tried to recap their games, I fear I would throw up on my laptop, forever breaking the keys.

6. The New York Giants have barred injuries and embarrassment this year.

7. I am quite sick of Eli Manning and Mark Sanchez on those Toyota commercials that play on repeat during Sunday football. I drive an Acura, so I do believe I am above these commercials. This has nothing to do with anything, but I just bought a new (used) vehicle a few weeks ago and I wanted to casually mention it.

8. I could name a total of 3 hockey players, and I did not even know there was an NBA team called the Oklahoma City Thunder. RIP the Seattle Supersonics and my Shawn Kemp high tops circa 1995.

9. My Alma Mater, Providence College, is the proud owner of zero Football teams. I anxiously await their basketball team this year, so I can give up on them and root for Uconn instead.

10. My 24th birthday is on Tuesday—just throwing that out there.

To be honest, I am very relieved the 2009 MLB season is over. I find myself caring again, religiously checking Metsblog.com and mlbtraderumors.com. I hope the Mets give me a reason to spend ridiculous amounts of money at their Stadium, on their merchandise, so they can accommodate the contracts of underperforming players. All I need is that one nudge, that one speckle of hope so I can purchase another weekend package, in which half the tickets go to waste. Oh, what’s that you said? The Mets hired Dave Jauss to be their bench coach? When do tickets go on sale!?

Kerri, I see your Mets gave you the greatest birthday present of them all. No, not a Championship or even a real manger or non-choking player. Don't be silly. No, the Mets announced on your birthday yesterday that they will be going back to their retro pinstrip unifroms from 1969. Darn it, NOW my Philiies don't stand a chance.

Happy birthday to a fellow suffering fan of the Giants and Mets (I can do without the Jets). And you think Providence is bad? Try rooting for St. Johns!

Kerri, do you really think 36 games will be enough for your Mutts against the Phillies?

Thanks for the bday wishes. All I want this year is a power hitter, a number 2 starter, and a 36 game handicap in the division. Also, thank you Benn or should i say ma'am.

Oh man, an "Aunt Viv" and a Shawn Kemp reference in the same article. Nice. And I'm just sick of Eli and Mark "Dirty" Sanchez, period. When do pitchers and catchers report?

I'm in the same boat with numbers 1, 5, 7, and 8. It's been a rough year for Mets, Jets, and Giants fans so far. Number 4 is all thats kept me sane.
