Where Do The Mets Go From Here?

So now that the Mets' 2009 season is over, where do they go from here?

The Mets 2009 season is clearly finished due to a unbelieveable amound of injuries that have caused the Mets to see every position starter besides Dan Murphy get hurt. They have also lost their number 3,4,5,7,8 starting pitchers get hurt. They lost their set-up man and were forced to move their replacement set-up man to the rotation. They lost two of their back up middle infielders, two back up outfielders, and even their top prospect to injury.

This is what I believe the Mets should do going forth:

Trade for Aaron Harang without giving up Holt, Mejia, F-Mart, Flores, Niese, or Davis.

Keep Maine, Wright, Reyes, and Beltran out ofr the rest of the season to make sure they're ready for next season.

Limit the amount of innings Johan and K-Rod pitch for the rest of the year.

Call up Evans to replace Evans and send Andy Green down and call Bowan up. Give the two fringe prospects a chance to see how they can handle the majors.

Attempt to trade Wagner if we can get fair value for him otherwise let him go to free agency and collect the draft pick for his Type A or B status. If he doesn't get fair trade value nor does he got Type status I would conisder picking up Wagner's option.

Sign Carl Crawford if by some miracle the Rays don't pick up his option or trade for him. Otherwise spring for Matt Holliday who, unlike Jason Bay, is a good fielder as well as a good hitter. I would prefer Crawford because I am a huge Crawford fan and Reyes and Crawford would be an electric 1-2 punch. Although Holliday and Bay would provide some much needed power.

Attempt to make a trade for D-Back's catcher Chris Snyder. If they are asking for too much then resign Ramon Castro or sign Ramon Hernandez to a short term deal.

Sign Nick Johnson and turn Murphy into a super utility player like a lesser Chone Figgins. Ike Davis is clearly the 1b of the future not Murphy. If Johnson demands too many years or too much money try to bring Delgado back on a one year incentive laden contract.

If Sheffield doesn't get Type B status resign him or some other power bat off the bench who could also serve as a positive influence for the younger players.

Pick up J.J. Putz's option for 2010 if he returns and pitches well.

Return Parnell to the bullpen.

Sign Jorge Julio and Chad Cordero to minor league contracts.

I would also say pull Livan from the rotation and replace him with a young stater such as Niese but Holt and Mejia are a bit too young and we might as well stick with Livan and accept the losses and get a better draft pick.
