Triple Bogey Worth $515, 200.00

PGA Tour pro Robert Garrigus was feeling the pressure on his 72nd and last hole yesterday at the TPC Southwind golf course during the final round of the St. Jude Classic. Garrigus had a three stroke lead going into the final hole when he fell apart at the 18th tee. In what would have been Garrigus' first PGA tour win he hit his drive on the final 18th tee into the water. He two putted for triple bogey forcing a three way sudden death playoff between Garrigus, Lee Westwood and Robert Karlsson for the tournament trophy.
St. Jude Classic champion Lee Westwood took home the champion trophy on the fourth sudden death playoff hole and the 1.08 million winners check. Westwood has been close to winning in the past, most recently finishing second the Phil Mickelson in this years Masters. Westwood was gracious in defeat at Augusta National and was classy yesterday as he accepted the winners trophy in Memphis, Tenn. This is his second PGA tour win.
Not only did the errant tee shot cost Garrigus his first PGA tour win it also cost him an invitation to Augusta National in 2011 to compete in the Masters tournament next year. He would have gained an automatic exemption with a win. Garrigus' misfortune also opened the US Open door for Rocco Mediate. With the Westwood's win Mediate was awarded entry to this weeks major as first alternate. Garrigus is home practicing this week instead of making the drive to Pebble Beach.
Garrigus will have alot to think about as he looks back on his errant tee shot. He was quoted as saying he believed he only had a two shot lead instead of three as he was teeing off on his final hole. Not being prepared to finish the golf tournament cost him several hundred thousand dollars.
There is a saying in the golfing community; Drive for show and Putt for dough. This was not the case yesterday in Memphis.
