Trades can help every team.

With the tip-off of the NBA regular season right around the corner I decided to review every team and choose one player from each squad that needs to pack their bags and move on. The Eastern Conference is up first so let’s jump right in:

Eastern Conference
·         Boston Celtics- the Celtics have a pretty solid unit this year but after careful research I think it’s time for Tony Allen to pack his bags. Yes, his defense and off-screen cuts are solid but combine his injuries with inconsistent shooting and the Celtics could part with him. Perhaps in exchange for some youth that could bring a spark off the bench.

·         New Jersey Nets- It may not happen during the first month or so but Rafer Alston should defiantly not get comfortable in New Jersey. He’s a solid veteran, who could contribute right away to any team in the hunt for a ring. In return the Nets should try to get a young prospect or a future draft pick or two.

·         New York Knicks- the Knicks want cap space, then it’s a no-brainer to trade the slow Eddy Curry out of Mike D’Antoni’s system. While giving this a lot of thought I came to a reasonable trade. Eddy Curry and Larry Hughes for Miami Heat forward Jermaine O’Neal. The Knicks get their cap space while the Heat recieve a solid guard and a post player at the center position. Might be enough to make Wade stay.

·         Philadelphia 76ers- Samuel Dalembert’s contract will be hard to move but he needs to take his large contract and poor work ethnic and leave. The only way 76ers get this trade done is with picks and possibly a three team trade, maybe for a pure point guard.

·         Toronto Raptors-Once the Raptors realize their not championship bound and Chris Bosh will leave next summer they should look to get something in return for the All-Star forward. Take a look at the Texas teams Toronto.

·         Chicago Bulls- Tyrus Thomas is dripping with potential but won’t tap into it. With a poor attitude and lack of teach ability it’s time for Thomas to move. Look for an expiring contract Chicago.

·         Cleveland Cavaliers- Zydrunas Ilgauskas is the man out in Cleveland. Behind Shaq the minutes will be scarce but the 7’3 foot center should have worth. The Cavs could bring in another tall perimeter player or go out and fetch a future draft pick.

·         Detroit Pistons- Tayshaun Prince has been on the trading block since Billups left. He is getting up there in years but his all around defense plus his length should have a lot of teams foaming at the mouth. Pistons should continue their youth movement, possibly with bringing in a young center.

·         Indiana Pacers- the Pacers should try to move Jeff Foster’s contract. There should be worth for the 6-11 center, but that six million plus contract will be tricky to haul away. Pacers should look for players that avoid injury.

·         Milwaukee Bucks- Some fans might be mad at me but Michael Redd needs to leave. Let’s face it; the Bucks aren’t going anywhere this season. So they might as well start to rebuild and hope for a splash in next summer’s free agency. Get back a rising star or a high pick Bucks fans.

·         Atlanta Hawks- Jamal Crawford won’t mesh. The 6-5 ball hog of a guard just won’t fit in; he jacks up too many shots and is not interested in playing defense. Halfway through the season the Hawks will realize this and make a change, hopefully for a combo guard who can pass as well as guard the perimeter.

·         Charlotte Bobcats- Raja Bell’s departure will affect the defense but the Bobcats need points from somewhere and trading him for a guard that can create shots is ideal. Why wasn’t Iverson signed again?

·         Miami Heat- Jermaine O’Neal is injury prone and over the hill, but has an expiring contract. Trade him and bring in as much help as possible. Miami, for Pete’s sake, make a move so Wade stays.

·         Orlando Magic- if the Vince Carter experiment doesn’t work halfway through the season the Magic should look to trade him for a perimeter defensive player with three point range. Carter is getting up there in years and has his defense ever been lock tight.

·         Washington Wizards- I’m going to say Mike Miller needs to relocate. He’s a solid player with real NBA range, so he should be worth a lot in the trade market. If the Wizards can get a mobile center with low post skill they have a good chance to surprise everybody.

The Western Conference article is coming soon. Stay tuned.
