<intro>
Well here we are, as the season is flying by we come up on week 12 of the 2009 NFL season. There have been numerous teams jumping around on this list in the last month. Some teams have remained on top, while others have risen while others have dropped dramatically. That is, once again, what makes the NFL great.

1. Saints (10-0) Last Month Ranking 1

Up until this point of the season, everyone is still wondering if the Saints will lose a game this season. So far, they have not really come close, so I am sure that Coach Don Shula has begun to squirm just a bit from his recliner as he watches this team. This week’s game against the Patriots will tell the story of this team this season.

2. Colts (10-0) Last Month Ranking 2

Peyton Manning continues to pull a rabbit out of his hat every week. I have no doubt that he is and will be known as the greatest quarterback in the history of the game. The Colts just keep on winning week after week. They might not always blow people out and the games might be close, but somehow, some way, they drive down the field with Manning leading them to victory week after week.

3. Vikings (9-1) Last Month Ranking 6

All I can say at this point was that I was totally wrong about this team. I really did not figure Brett Favre to be playing as well as he has or the Vikings to dominate from week to week in the way that they have been so far this season. Favre looks like the young buck that he was 10 years ago with the ability to be the comeback kid when needed and he is playing one of the best seasons of his whole career. He has made everyone on the Vikings believing in themselves and they are a team to be reckoned with.

4. Patriots (7-3) Last Month Ranking 4

Tom Brady and the Pats are still one of the best teams in the league and are a threat to win every single week. They still have an excellent defense and are full of offense weapons that can beat you on any given play. This week’s game against the unbeaten Saints should be considered the game of the week.

5. Chargers (7-3) Last Month Ranking 20

The Chargers have turned it around after a 3-3 start with four wins in a row. They are finally looking like the team that most of the experts expected them to be. Phillip Rivers is playing up to expectations and this team is on a roll. It should be interesting to see how they play in the next few weeks.

6. Cardinals (7-3) Last Month Ranking 8
After a slow start this season, the Cards have won three in a row and I would have to say that it is pretty safe to say the defending NFC Champs are back to form. With all of the weapons that the Cardinals have on offense it is hard to deny the fact that their offense will just continue to cause a lot of problems for their opposition.

7. Bengals (7-3) Last Month Ranking 7

Even though the Bengals lost a tough game this past week against the lowly Raiders, they were without Cedric Benson and they have still been playing good football. In addition, they have an excellent quarterback in Carson Palmer, and an explosive receiver in Chad Ocho Cinco. They should not have any problems bouncing back with a victory against the Browns this weekend. If they lose back to back games to the Raiders and the Browns, I will officially call the seven wins they do have a fluke.

8. Cowboys (7-3) Last Month Ranking 9

Even though this past game was struggle for Tony Romo and the Cowboys offense, they have for the most part been putting up some good numbers and Romo has been spreading the ball around between receivers Miles Austin, Patrick Crayton, and finally Roy Williams.

9. Jaguars (6-4) Last Month Ranking 19

The Jaguars still remain in a good spot for a playoff berth in the AFC considering that they have won three games in a row which puts them right in the hunt for a playoff berth this season. After consecutive wins over the Jets, the Texans, and an easy victory over the Bills, the Jags are right in the thick of the AFC picture at this point.

10. Steelers (6-4) Last Month Ranking 5

The Steelers have lost two games in a row and seem to be dropping fast. Big Ben getting a concussion does not help matters any as the season moves forward. It will be interesting to see if they can turn around their most recent misfortunes without Ben and the possibility of starting Dennis Dixon at quarterback for the next week or two.

11. Eagles (6-4) Last Month Ranking 12
You are never sure which Eagles team will show up from week to week, but with a 6-4 record, they are still in the hunt for a playoff berth. Receiver and kick returner DeSean Jackson continues to come up with big plays when they need it the most. It will be interesting to see how they do against the Redskins this week. If they can beat them handily, they can make a statement. However, if they struggle as the Cowboys did, and even possibly lose, their season may be over.

12. Packers (6-4) Last Month Ranking 13

The Packers have won two in a row and should get an easy victory against the Lions on Turkey day. They still have a potent offense and Aaron Rodgers continues to out up big numbers, but until they solve their offensive line issues, they still may struggle to get into the playoffs this season.

13. Giants (6-4) Last Month Ranking 10

Sure, the Giants finally won a game after four straight losses, but I still feel that they are not the team everyone thought they were going to be this season. This week should be interesting against the Broncos at Mile High as they need to get back on track and continue to win if they have any hopes of making the playoffs.

14. Broncos (6-4) Last Month Ranking 3

After a surprising 6-0 record to start the season, the Broncos have fallen back to earth with a four game losing streak. They definitely showed the football world the fact that they should not be considered one of the upper echelon teams of the NFL. This week’s game against the Giants will either be a turn around or the team sinking even deeper into the quicksand of mediocrity.

15. Falcons (5-5) Last Month Ranking 11

The Falcons always seem to play a lot better in the dome in Atlanta, then they do when they are on the road. I still cannot figure out why they have a dome to begin with. The Falcons have lost two games in a row and it is going to be just about impossible to catch the undefeated Saints in the NFC South. They need to get back on track quickly if they have any chance of a playoff berth this season.

16. Miami Dolphins (5-5) Last Month Ranking NR

The Dolphins have won two games in a row and quarterback Chad Henne is finally looking comfortable at the helm. Running back Ricky Williams looks like he has put down the smoke and seems to be playing with the fire in his heart instead of in the bowl.

17. Texans (5-5) Last Month Ranking 14

The Texans have lost two in a row and seem to be going in the wrong direction. They still have a ton of talent on their roster and if they can ever play a consistent game from start to finish, they could still turn this around, but it is going to be a big uphill battle if they still expect to make the playoffs for the first time in team history.

18. Ravens (5-5) Last Month Ranking 18

It has been difficult to figure out this Ravens team this season. Their defense has not been as consistent as in years past. You are never sure which team will show up from week to week although I think that their biggest problems are not being able to finish games and come out with the victory. With all of the good teams in the AFC, at this point a playoff berth is highly unlikely.

19. Tennessee Titans (4-6) Last Month Ranking NR

Since Vince young has taken over at quarterback for the Titans, they are 4-0 and playing like the team that everyone expected them to be. Running back Chris Johnson continues to shine as the NFL’s leading rusher. They have turned it around and I see them continuing to win and rise up this list and end the season with a winning record.

20. San Francisco 49ers (4-6) Last Month Ranking 17

The Niners, after starting out fast this season continue to struggle on both sides of the ball. Ever since that Vikings game with the last second miracle Favre finish to lose the game, the Niners have been nothing to talk about.
</intro>
