The Most Hated People in Sports Today

It would be too easy to write an article on the top most hated athletes because there are so many to choose from and some of the choices would be a little bit too obvious. This list will encompass coaches, owners, and other sports personalities that are the most disliked in the country.

Joe Buck-To this day, I never seen an announcer so disliked by so many people. I’ve always been a fan of Buck because of his dry wit, but apparently that is one of the reasons he is so dislike by some fans. His wit, his disdain of certain teams at least according to some fans and the fact that Buck is not as a huge baseball fan as he use to be is another reason he is disliked. When Buck made a joke last year about choosing to watch the Bachlorette over a major league baseball game, some fans were outraged and wanted him to step down as Fox’s head baseball announcer. There are even sites devoted to getting Buck off the air. Talk about hate.

Nick Saban and Urban Meyer-It’s a two for one deal here mainly because both coaches are disliked for the same reasons: arrogance, their relationship with fans and the media and for winning. That combination tells you that they must be doing a good job if they are hated that much.

Mark Cuban-Out of all the people on this list, I see why he is hated. Though he is a players owner, Cuban is a loud mouth at times, highly critical of the NBA and its officials and as we have seen recently, rude to the players and mothers of the opposing team. For a lot of good he has done as an owner, it gets lost most of the time because of his mouth and attitude.

Jerry Jones-Jones is hated for the obvious reasons; being the owner of probably the most hated and beloved NFL franchise and that’s the Dallas Cowboys. Why is he hated? He is hated because he stands on the sidelines, for signing players like Terrell Owens and Pacman Jones. He is hated because he is a high profile owner and for firing Dallas icon Tom Landry. I can go on and on but that would take up this whole article.

Bill Belichick-Although he is probably the best coach in the league, Belichick is mainly hated because of the dirty deeds he has done as the head coach of the Patriots. When the whole Jet Gate incident came to light that the Patriots were apparently taping practices of other teams, that’s just added to his status as the most hated coach in the NFL and he is also thought of as a dirty, rotten cheater too.

Dick Vitale-Though mostly thought of as the voice of college basketball, Vitale is mostly hated for his love towards certain teams and coaches. Vitale loves the Dukies, Coach K, Roy Williams and Rick Pitino. Vitale thinks the only good basketball is played in the ACC and the Big East; no where else. Rarely, does ESPN make Vitale cover other teams in other conferences which is why he is hated by just about every college basketball fan.

Bud Selig-Wow does this guy ever get a break? I think at times he is just hated because of who he is. Now, I think some of the things he has done like giving the winner of the All-Star Game home field advantage in the World Series is dumb, he has done some good things too like bringing interleague play to baseball, but people will never forgive or forget certain things he hasn’t done especially with the steroid scandal which has plague the game. Ok forget what I just said maybe the hate of Selig is justified.

Right or wrong these personalities are all at times controversial figures in the sports world.

I've heard a lot of people complain about Stuart Scott who as of late has had a limited air time. But I'm sure Joe Buck didn't help himself with his show but I didn't have problem with it. Thought some of it was funny.

Add to the list, George Steinbrenner (I know he's not in good health, but he's still hated), Mike Krzyzewski, Chad Johnson #85, and the biggest blowhard in television history (and yes, that does include Howard Cosell) CHRIS BERMAN. Berman is an ass of epic proportions. Yeah, he used to be funny. That was about 20 years ago. His act has worn thin to the point I will not watch an event if his voice or image is on it. What he and ESPN have failed to realize is that there ARE other outlets for acquiring sports highlights and scores. *** One other thing to add to the list is any of the ass clowns on ESPN SportsCenter who think THEY are the show, THEY are the highlights. They're not. The players are but ESPN has allowed much of its on-air "talent" to assume larger than life roles and that's a shame. *** One person I would add to the list of likable people (if there is a list) is Kurt Warner. I'm not a Cardinals fan but he seems like an honorable man, someone who is what is right with sports and society. :)

The reason people (OK, I) hate Joe Buck is because he is a smug a-hole. When Randy Moss fake mooned the Green Bay fans, Buck acted like he killed a puppy while flashing a kindergarten class. His dry wit can be entertaining, but the guy has a very conservative sense of humor that doesn't really relate to the average sports fan. Plus, other than the Moss incident and his daddy's Cardinals winning the World Series, he shows absolutely no emotion. His entire delivery is monotone. Whether it's a pop-up in the first inning or a game-winning home run, he sounds exactly the same. The rest of the list is pretty ho-hum. Same names that tend to be on a lot of "hate 'em" lists. And Benn, I hate Joe Morgan too. So much that I turn the sound off on my TV when I'm playing MLB2K9 so I don't have to have to hear Virtual Morgan drone on.

well, fellow conspiracy theorists will attest to their hatred of Stern and his willingness to do anything in his power to drive ratings by putting the Lakers in the Finals because of the ratings black hole that are the Spurs and Pistons. Pierzynski is a jackass and everyone hates him, players and fans alike. And as far as Avery is concerned, I know nothing about hockey, but I do know that fans and players hate him too. And I have seen video of his little goalie dance he did and I wanted to rip his goddamn head off. I don't disagree with who you picked, I was just offering further examples.

David Stern, Terrell Owens, Barry Bonds, Alex Rodriguez, Floyd Meriweather, Ozzie Guillen, Kobe Bryant, the 'look at all the celebrities' shots at Laker games, A.J. Pierzynski, Sean Avery, Jose Canseco, and Scott Boras. Just a few that always seem to be on the list.
