Still a Success

I wish I could say for sure what went wrong against the Saints, but I was only in for one series before I got hurt. I hit my head on Reggie Bush's knee and didn't return to the game. We had a lot of guys hurt going into the game, so I think it would have turned out different had we been 100 percent healthy. It's hard to overcome injuries to key players and we played like 16 weeks in a row because of our early bye.
Obviously we wish we had a chance to keep playing, but looking back this season has to be considered a success. We had one of the best years this franchise has had since the ’70s and I don't think it's ever had back-to-back years like this before. Getting to the playoffs and winning a game is a successful season, even though we fell short of our ultimate goal.
Next year could be real different depending on what happens this offseason. Because of concussion concerns a lot of people think that Kurt might not come back even though he's playing as well as ever. If he doesn't come back it would be real strange around here. He's a great guy, but he has to make a decision that's best for him and his family.
Judging from conversations that I've had with him I think he understands that he's had a great, Hall of Fame career. I think football has taken its course. But he's the best teammate I've ever had. He's been a leader on and off the field.
Now that the Saints are in the Super Bowl I will be hanging around
I kind of like having the Pro Bowl after the Super Bowl, but we'll see how it goes this year with the change. It's great to be a part of it regardless.

Speaking for most of football fans, we hope Kurt comes back one more year. You guys had a Super Bowl caliber team again. Home proved to be important. Hope you play well this weekend in the PB.
