SpiderWire EZ Mono Fishing line-I am IMPRESSED!

A picture that says a thousand words

I’ll tell you what. Throwing out that cast a wee bit too far and snagging a tree is not my idea of a good fishing experience. Yes sure, we’ve all been there no doubt about it, and there isn’t much more anyone can do than to attempt a few quick yanks to free up the line. If that doesn’t work, it’s time to pull and pull hard!

Invariably, as has always happened before, the line snaps leaving bait, hook, and any other attachment in the tree. A few curse words are uttered, stomp your feet a few times, time to lament about that being a favorite bait that will never be recovered, then rig up the pole again and continue fishing. But that is part of fishing, and sometimes, that’s just how it goes.

Well, the last time I pitched a hook and line into a tree, I was using 6 pound test SpiderWire EZ mono fishing line, and like every other time this has happened to me, I was a bit cheesed off. Let’s face it, when you are out fishing you want to BE out fishing, and not having to be tangled up in a tree somewhere while the fish around you are jumping.

So, I yanked the line and nothing happened. I yanked again and again, and still nothing. Then I physically grabbed the line and began to pull. Nothing. I pulled harder, and I pulled still harder yet nothing! Heck, this is 6 pound test line, I was pulling like the dickens here, and it would not give.

Finally, I wrapped a couple of twists around my wrist and literally bent backwards using my weight to pull it out of the tree. Sure enough, 200 pounds of force will not be denied, and that line snapped and made a high pitched ‘biiiing’ sound like a violin string had just let go.

Ok, great, terrific, wonderful, and thinking as sarcastically as I could, I gathered up the end of the line in my hands to rig up another hook and bobber. To my utter astonishment, the hook was still attached! Even more shocking, the actual barb on the hook had broken off and was still left in the tree! You can see exactly what I am talking about by looking at what’s left of my red hook laid down inside the big ‘E’ on the SpiderWire Mono box! The line never gave, the hook broke!

Check out the bobber. When I pulled that line, the bobber hit another tree that I was next to, and was positively shattered upon impact! Folks, this is 6 pound test line we are talking about here, and this isn’t even the premium brand of SpiderWire. Can you believe this or what?

I’m still utterly amazed by this, in fact, I cannot put into words how truly impressed with this line I am. SpiderWire blows every other line out of the water, and I mean that totally, pun intended!

I’m sold. From here on, this is my line of choice, the proof is in the pudding, I am done dancing with other types, SpiderWire is the one I use from now on!

Thanks for joinin’ me!
