Save the [Jason] Bay or Go on [Matt] Holliday?
Written by Kerri Senno, Wednesday December 09 2009
The media, like me, is dying for some Hot Stove news. Every single rumor that is heard at the Winter Meetings is posted, repeated, and tweeted. Most recently, I read that Omar Minaya was eating a six piece chicken Mcnugget, which makes no sense because it is cheaper to buy two eight piece nuggets. [Insert analogy to the way Minaya runs the Mets] Anyway, the two big offensive names out there are Jason Bay and Matt Holliday, either of which would be a great addition to a lackluster lineup—cough, the New York Mets. The Mets basically need a new face at every position, but as for me I am partial to Matt Holliday, as I feel he is more of a game changer.
Check out the statistics and make a decision for yourself. Which guy would you rather see on your team this spring? I have left their identities anonymous as to erase any preconceived notions of the player. This will not apply to sabermetric nerds who memorized Jason Bay’s OPS as part of a solitary drinking game last New Year’s.
