Pre Season

I get I that I should not get worked up over pre season football but I am not happy with my Bears. The Giants on Monday night kept Jay Cutler on the run. The Broadcasters and reporters heralded the offensive line for only giving up one sack after giving up multiple sacks against the Buffalo Bills in their previous game. I don’t know what game they were watching but I wouldn’t trust that offensive line to protect my money.

The Bears were pretty sneaky dropping Jonny Knox in the depth chart in favor of Roy Williams’ lazy ass. I’m still seething as a Miami Hurricanes fan to see Greg Olsen get traded. He was the most successful Tight End in Bears history since Mike Ditka. He was leaders the team in touchdown receptions last season. I wasn’t that sad to see Olin Kreutz go. I thought he was a big part of the problem with the o-line since when Rex Grossman was the Bears Quarterback.

Plaxico Burress looked great the other night for the Jets. I would rather have seen him get signed by the Bears instead of Roy Williams. I’m tired of hearing how good he was in Detroit under Mike Martz. He was a dud in Dallas. So far he looks like he’s still in Dallas. I predict that he will be benched by week three after the Packers first visit to Chicago.

Devin Hester should be used sparingly as a receiver and focus on returning the ball. Regardless of whether or not kick off rules have changed filed position is still the name of the game. Chester Taylor should go and Marion Barber should be the number one running back. Matt Forte is only good for receiving yards out of the back field. Next year the Bears should spend a draft pick on a quality back up. They should have picked up Terrel Pryor in the supplemental draft. With his suspension and his lack of experience he wouldn’t see the field anytime soon. If the NFC Championship game should have taught the Bears anything it should be that you need to have a quality back up when your starter goes down.

Defensively the Bears will be strong enough to go as far as they did last year. Defense has always been their strong point. It’s time to have the offensive match the defensive talent. The Bears have thrown just two touchdown passes in the pre season. They’re going through contract talks with a guy they should be trying to trade or make him realize that his future in the NFL is in a two back system as the lesser of the two backs.

If we don’t get our act together we’ll be at home watching another Super Bowl with subpar commercials. No more Groupon spots please.
