PPFFL Overview Week One

The NFL is back. The lockout is over and the games count. And that means the return of fantasy football.

Oh yeah.

Let me begin by saying I am not a fan of fantasy football. I like fantasies. My favorite includes an island in the South Pacific, an endless supply of beer, and two hot – let me stop there. My wife sometimes reads my blog. She does not mind the fantasies that include beer.

I saw the lockout as a chance to get out of the devil that is fantasy football. Then that was resolved. Then there was a chance there would not be enough players. Then that was resolved. Then there was Hurricane Irene, and that could have stopped the draft. But the draft went on even though most of the east coast was without power. But the draft went on. And Nolan Thomas reminded me that I needed to defend my championship season from last year. Go Virginia Beach Bums.

I woke up yesterday and saw that my team was leading by a slight margin. Then I realized my players had finished their stats, and my opponent still had Wes Welker. And this is why I hate fantasy football. When Welker completed a 99 yard touchdown that tied an NFL record I cheered, even though it was clear that it was the end for my fantasy team.

Still, it’s only one game. The Virginia Beach Bums are ranked 12th. But the Playerpress fantasy baseball team was once at the bottom and won the title in 2010. And last year’s football team won the championship after losing the first game. Bring it on fantasy. I am ready for the love/hate relationship.

BelieveNoHype 121.00

Virginia Beach Bums 91.46

Damn you Wes Welker and your 31 points. I still love you.

Gig em Aggies 125.46

DaBares 114.10

Last year, DaBares and Da Bums met in the playoffs. This year, they meet in week 2, both trying to avoid the cellar in their division.

Baker’s Dirty Birds 111.78

Jovan’s Eagles 101.28

The Dirty Birds received 40.98 from Tom Brady. There is no way that can happen every week.

Texas Chainsaw Massaquoi 124.10

LIBHTRS 104.46

First item: what is LIBHTRS? Second item: Texas got 50.80 points from the 49ers defense. Who knew San Francisco had a defense?

Winston’s Cups 111.70

Dream Team 99.02

The highest score for the game came from Steve Smith (32.80) Unfortunately, he was on the bench for the Dream Team in this loss.

Bulljive All Star’s 109.98

The Bookie Priests 98.38

The All Star’s took Aaron Rodgers and his 26.58 points all the way to victory.
