Playerpress Fantasy Football Week 4 RESULTS!!

So we’re almost a fourth of the way through another professional football season, my SF Giants didn’t make the baseball playoffs, I’m recovering from swine flu, and my second round fantasy pick (Ladanian Tomlinson), has basically cashed in his chips.  So I’m actually kind of happy to be 2-2 after four weeks.  The Titans are the best 0-4 team ever, and the Broncos have to be the worst 4-0 team ever, and if you didn’t watch Tony Romo in the Dallas-Denver game you would be sure that Jamarcus Russell is the worst quarterback in the league (FMT Raiders).  Oh and NFL Redzone channel is the best thing ever, I can’t believe Fox and CBS allow that channel to exist.  It basically eliminates the need to watch games on network TV and the need for commercials, it’s unbelievable.  I love it.  I would marry if it were of appropriate age, species, and gender (not sure if Prop 8 applies here or not).  But I digress…you want to know how your favorite Playerpress ‘writers’ and MC Homer did in our fantasy football head-to-head match-ups this week.

Flash Greyhounds (2-2):  89 - Ridemcowgirl1 (1-3):  70

Even with the massively disappointing Braylon Edwards laying a goose egg for Flash, he still beat the Cowgirl.  The Cowgirl only got 12 points combined from the running back position (Brendon Jacobs and Julius Jones) and a paltry seven points from the supposedly stalwart Steeler defense.  The Flash won utilizing two-touchdown performances by Steve Slaton and Chad Ochocinco.

Flash Fantasy Stud and Dud:  Phillip Rivers - 26 and Braylon Edwards – 0

Cowgirl Fantasy Stud and Dud:  Kyle Orton - 21 and Laverneus Coles – 2

Sweatpants+Handguns (3-1): 80 - Hypnos ZZ (2-2): 63

I’m gonna be honest here.  East Division Leader Hypnos played Kurt Warner this week, and Arizona had a bye.  That probably had an adverse effect on his chances of winning.  I’m tempted to say it’s a bit amateurish, but maybe he had a good reason.  And he probably would have lost anyways, as his team this week is terrible, starting Reggie Bush and Ahmed Bradshaw as running backs (note: as I write this, I’m too lazy to check back and see if he’s beaten me in the past).  Props to Sweatpants for playing Josh Morgan on touchdown week for him.  Good call?  I guess?

Sweatpants Fantasy Stud and Dud:  Jay Cutler – 23 and Titans D – 4

Hypnos Fantasy Stud and Dud:  Steve Smith (NYG) – 25 (!) and Devin Hester – 0

Cleveland Steamers (2-2): 129 – MC Homer (2-1-1): 77

So the Steamers put up a whopping three players with 20+ points and three others in double digits.  And extremely impressive team this week with 21 points from WR Mike Sims-Walker (who?!!!) and 14 points from Chicago kicker Robbie Gould.  The Steamers also have the monopoly on Jacksonville offensive players with hyphenated names including the aforementioned Sim-Walker and my fellow UCLA alum Maurice Jones-Drew.  MC Homer… sucks to have Romo.  Sorry bro, this is your first loss so I don’t feel that bad.

Steamers Fantasy Stud and Dud:  Ben Rothlisberger – 25 and Mario Manningham – 4

Homer Fantasy Stud and Dud:  Randy Moss – 11 and Dustin Keller 3

Bayside Tigers (3-1): 135 – Texans (0-4): 68

This was the BEATDOWN OF THE WEEK by far.  Only kicker Kris Brown (9 points) and rookie receiver Percy Harvin didn’t reach double digits for the Tigers.  A thoroughly dominant week at every position, including 24 points from the magical Antonio Gates.  I’m glad I didn’t waste my great week against the Tigers.  The Texans had another abysmal week, getting a combined 17 points from the receivers, tight end, and kicker.  That’s legitimately terrible and extremely similar to my team last week (frown face emoticon).

Tigers Fantasy Stud and Dud:  Eli Manning – 25 and Percy Harvin – 3

Texans Fantasy Stud and Dud:  Bengals D – 16 and Patrick Crayton – 1

Da Bares (1-2-1):  70 – Born a Brave (3-1): 68

This matchup was the NAILBITER OF THE WEEK.  Brave was down 16 points with two players left going in to the Monday Night Brett Favre extravaganza.  Ryan Grant and Longwell garnered 14 points to leave the Brave two points short.  Both writers had multiple terrible players, and multiple I mean at least 5 players with 6 or less points.  That’s bad.  This was the first loss for Born a Brave, leaving no undefeated teams in our league.  Parity for the win!!  And congrats to Nolan on his first win!

Bares Fantasy Stud and Dud:    Sean Hill – 18 and Darren Sproles – 1

Brave Fantasy Stud and Dud:  Peyton Manning – 24 and Dwayne Bowe – 1

Bo Jackson’s (2-2):  111 – Philly Fans Suck (2-2):  80

Ooooh, the BIG POPPA TC VICTORY OF THE WEEK.  Ok, a little more honesty, my team isn’t good.  I had only two position players in double digits and got lucky that Darren McFadden got hurt (FMT Raiders).  Basically the reason I won was the fact that the NFC West leading San Francisco 49er defense scored 43 FANTASY POINTS.  Let me say that again, 43 FANTASY POINTS.  So now I’m 2-2 and mired in mediocrity.  Philly, sorry just an unlucky week for you.

Bo Jackson Fantasy Stud and Dud:  49ers D – 43 and three way tie – 4

Philly Fans Suck Fantasy Stud and Dud:  Aaron Rodgers – 24 and Darren McFadden – 0

Wrap-up

There are no more undefeated teams, which is great.  There are a lot of 2-2 teams, as one would expect.  And there is one legitimately awful team, which shall remain nameless (although it wouldn’t be hard to figure out).  I’m still enjoying this even though my team is mediocre at best, and I hope you are too.  So until next time, GO RAIDERS!!!

HOmer its because we're brothers that I jest! and Dub, love the confidence from a fellow 2-2 guy. Pretty sure Titans D is currently your frenemy Kerri. You suspect they're sleeping with your bf, and your right, but you can't prove it. You know you should stop hanging out with them, but they're cool and go to cool parties and came through for you last year when things were tough. You've invested a lot in them, and don't want to admit that it was a waste. I get it. But seriously, they're sleeping with your boyfriend. Cut'em loose.

Why would I want to get my mind out of the gutter Nolan? It's so much more fun down there. That's not to be confused with the "basement" of the standings, which is where your fantasy football team is. I wouldn't know what that place is like. As a matter of fact I may have to change my team name to The Jeffersons because I'm "Movin on Up" the standings.

Well done TC, always enjoy your work, my Giants-loving brother. Just out of curiosity, why single me out? "Playerpress 'writers' and MC Homer..." What's up with that? I thought we were homies? You hurt my feelings TC. *tear As for you G-Shelley, I can hope for a beat down, but I was favored over B-Dub last week by 1,249 points give or take a few, and got my ass handed to me, so you never know. But I fully expect to rebound with a 120+ point week, so pray, pray hard. I will be.

Great article BPTC. The NFL Redzone stuff was hysterical. Being smart enough or informed enough to pick up guys like Mike Sims-Walker is why I'm going to win this league. And unless Hypnos ZZ has a legitimate excuse for not keeping up, there should be some sort of sanctions from the league / site. This isn't some public league dammit.

I was greatly benefited by Hypnos negligence. Who wants to give me a Wide Receiver???

Good article Big Poppa! OK, this officially sucks! My team, "The Texans" were a 1-point favorite before the Fantasy week began. Sucks to be 0-4 and get the beatdown of the week. Can I blame the cruddy draft order I was handed? Oh well, I'll keep trying free agency, etc., but things don't look good this week against MC Homer. At least, I have three wins and lead the league in my Yahoo league. You guys are real pros!
