No '10 In '09; Are EA And NASCAR Done?

It has been reported that EA Sports will not be creating a new NASCAR video game for the Xbox 360 or the Playstation 3 in 2009. According to sources, the only NASCAR game being created by EA in 2009 is NASCAR Kart Racing for Nintendo's Wii system.
The reason the much-anticipated NASCAR '10 will not be released is unknown. However, NASCAR '10 was the last NASCAR game expected to be created by EA Sports before their contract with NASCAR expired. According to EA representitives, contract talks are going on with NASCAR. But, if gamers have their way, EA will not be extending its contract with NASCAR.
According to many gamers, NASCAR Thunder 2003 was the last realistic NASCAR game created by EA. After 2003, EA began adding new in-race features that allowed gamers to more easily draft up to an opponent, or "intimidate" them out of the way. As time went on, wrecks began to look very fake, as flipping end-over-end 10 times had very little effect on one's car, and the cars were even worse. When the new CoT was introduced into NASCAR, EA did not even bother putting manufacturer decals on the cars, and in NASCAR '09, even the Nationwide cars and Camping World Trucks had no manufacturer decals.
To make matters worse, the dreaded "EA servers", which could only hold 14 people to a room at best during online play, would lag cars out of a race, wreck cars under caution when gamers had no control over them, acknowledge one's need to pit under caution too late, forcing everyone to do a parade lap under caution, as well as several other flaws, all of which had a very negative effect on the gamers' overall NASCAR experience.
While there is no doubt that gamers want EA out, there is also no doubt that, if EA puts enough money on the table, NASCAR will gladly let them continue on with their poor NASCAR game franchise. But, if NASCAR listens to the fans, for once, who will take over?
There have been rumors that Activision, the creator of the uber-popular Call Of Duty franchise, could possibly be the next creator of NASCAR games. This would be a very popular move for the gamers, due to the realistic experiences of other Activision games, and the positive reputation of Activision overall.
Another possibility, though it is unlikely, is that Papyrus, the creator of perhaps the most realistic NASCAR gaming experience in history, the designed-for-PC NASCAR Racing 2003, could make a move over to console games, and be the next great NASCAR franchise. This, too, would be popular amongst gamers due to the aforementioned reason.
All we know for sure right now, however, is that there will be no NASCAR '10 in 2009, that EA's contract with NASCAR is expiring, and that they might be replaced by someone else. We will know more details in the near future.

Papyrus was the only NASCAR racing sim worth buying, and EA squeezed them out. NASCAR as a sport is declining, and ALMS is moving up. Writing on the wall for racing sim development?

Who gives a flying F#&%? NASCAR is on the decline. I hope EA and Nascar don't renew their contract. Change is good. Take a year (or two) off and come back with the best Nascar racing game ever!

The last 3 or 4 nascar games that e/a has made has been embarrassing. I'm glad they got smart enough to quit trying to improve. I think it would be great if activision took over

i loved nascar thunder 2003, if nascar '10 came out, i would have bought it, hopefully another nascar game comes out... too bad!

nascar 08 was ok the craches where the worst part! the motors just looked like boxes!and the carrer mode wass so bad!

this is fucked up that there will be NO NASCAR 10 this year. and i am so fuckin pissed off. the playstation 3 and playstation 2 verisons are just fine, gamers are afraid that if i played againest them they wold get they asses beat i've bought the NASCAR Video game since 2002 for the last 8 years, and NASCAR 10 needs to come out, nobody please do not believe the rumors, cuz the rumors are not true

You know Kozunorri Yamahouchi (Sorry if I spelled it wrong),and his team have made some pretty good games like Gran Turismo 4 and 5. I just don't think they are ready to make a game with NASCARs in it. It would probably take longer than 2 years to make a game like that exteremely realistic. I also have 2 questions. Does Sony have an exclusive contract? And are they making a game like GT5 with NASCARs in it or a game just focusing on NASCAR? PLEASE ANSWER!!

If you guys want to know where NASCAR went check out the trailer for Gran Turismo 5 for the PS3, sorry XBOX owners, but it looks like they got smart and went with the better system and the graphics look great.

I heard that the PS2 versions were bad. Speaking from experience, it wasn't too good on the 360 either. The latest of anything I have heard is that someone is creating a NASCAR Sim game for the PC, much like Papyrus' NASCAR Racing 2003. Haven't heard anything else about the consoles yet. Are you guys talkin about the PS2 versions? I think those ones suck too. Thats why I swiched to the PS3 version. I just hope that EA con renew their contract. I also hope that Activision doesn't take over. The only half-decent racing game they made was Monster Jam.
