NHL Fantasy Week 9

The NHL continues to hand out suspensions in drive-thru mode. Joe Thornton got hit with a 2-game suspension when he allegedly hit Blues David Perron. The Buffalo Sabres and New Jersey Devils are struggling to win at home, and the goaltending extraordinaires are being iced. The crazy start to the season continues with some serious shake-ups in your fantasy roster. These are the picks that caused enough to catch my attention:

Brandon Dubinsky (C) New York Rangers
- he's been hot lately with two goals against Chicago Monday night. He's been rolling and could be a nice C on your roster if your main linesmen are weak.

Jakub Voracek (RW) Columbus Blue Jackets
-lit on fire, Voracek can be your assist guy. He's 50% owned in Yahoo leagues, so there must be something to it. Check it out.

Niclas Bergfors (RW) Atlanta Thrashers-
Atlanta has shown they are a force, and Bergfors has a solid hold in the roster. He's a great player to have, considering his stock is rising to 51% owned in Yahoo leagues.

David Perron (LW) St. Louis Blues
- many have him locked up in leagues, but on the slight chance, keep him close. Perron is reportedly suffering from headaches that kept him out of the game Saturday against Boston, due to a hit by San Jose's Joe Thornton. Watch that situation. If you need a strong LW consider Perron.

Brandon Prust(LW) New York Rangers- Don't have a Carcilo or a Hartnell on your team to cause some bruising? Prust has been a goon lately if you like that sort of thing. Your call.

Alexander Edler (D) Vancouver Canucks
- he's solid on the blueline and can have his hand in a play instantly.  Edler has 9 assists on the year.  Keep him in mind if your defense is weak.

Now is the time to assess the quality of your players. Some are late bloomers, like Taylor Hall, and others are not living up to their potential. Look for a solid base with a few rotating guys who can bring your team up a notch.
