The college football betting season is rapidly approaching and while we've spent plenty of time looking at the NFL week 1 odds, let's take a look at some of the better games in the first week of action in the college football season.

The college football betting season is rapidly approaching and while we've spent plenty of time looking at the NFL week 1 odds, let's take a look at some of the better games in the first week of action in the college football season.

Oregon Ducks @ Boise State Broncos

The Boise State Broncos rarely lose at home on their blue grass and their home opener should be no different. They'll welcome an Oregon team that has National Championship aspirations but this is not a mismatch. Boise State is ranked No. 13 in the USA Today preseason poll and they will look to make an emphatic statement in Week 1 that they can play with the big boys. They have the better defense in this matchup, which should be the difference.

Georgia Bulldogs @ Oklahoma State Cowboys

We're going to find out very quickly if the Oklahoma State Cowboys are for real. The Georgia Bulldogs will visit T. Boone Pickens stadium on the first Saturday of the year in what should be the highlight of Week 1. The Cowboys have a ridiculous offense with quarterback Zac Robinson, running back Kendall Hunter, wideout Dez Bryant and a good offensive line. Facing an SEC defense will be a test for this unit that is supposed to be among the best in the nation. Georgia lost a lot of their offense (Matthew Stafford, Knowshon Moreno) but they still have more big-game experience. Look for the Cowboys to pull this one out and make a national statement.

BYU Cougars @ Oklahoma Sooners

I'm betting management at BYU is happy to have a credible opponent on their menu to help out with the strength of schedule, but they don't stand much of a chance of winning this game. Oklahoma is one of the best teams in the country and there is not much that the Cougars will be able to do to stop Sam Bradford and company defensively. Look for the Sooners to hang a number in this game and win comfortably.

Miami Hurricanes @ Florida State Seminoles

The spotlight will shine on the Sunshine State on the first Monday night as Miami and Florida State renew their rivalry. The Hurricanes and Seminoles are not the programs they used to be, but both Randy Shannon and Bobby Bowden are bringing their programs back into the Top 25. The Hurricanes are still a very young team with a very inept offense, but Florida State is very much the same. This battle will be a defensive showdown but the Seminoles have to be the betting pick since they are at home.

Miami will not only cover all spreads this year, you heard it here first: Miami will start the season 4-0. Yes, that means they will be undefeated playing for a National Championship. I was a little skeptical myself (by skeptical, I mean unsure of our O-lines capabilities) about the upcoming month of September and the first weekend of October when the Canes host Oklahoma. But then someone ruined the rest of the country's championship hopes when they barfed out of their mouth: "Miami could easily end up 0-4." I'll explain myself to all naysayers when necessary.
