NATIONAL LEAGUE EAST PROJECTIONS

N.L. East

1. Phillies - The world champion Phillies improved themselves with the addition of Raul Ibanez, but they hurt themselves with the loss of Pat Burrel, none the less they still have a top starting rotation and a great infield. They win the N.L. East.

W /L - 103 - 59

2. Atlanta Braves - The Braves off season started with turmoil, the almost addition of Jake Peavy and A.J. Burnett, but they made the off season a HUGE success by signing Derek Lowe and Kenshin Kawakami and then acquiring Javier Vazquez in a trade with the White Sox. Then the addition of Garret Anderson gives them a very good veteran outfielder. If Francoeur shows up this season, the Braves should be a dark horse in the National League.

W/L - 94 - 68

3. New York Mets - The Mets only problem last year was their bullpen, now with the addition of J.J. Putz and K - Rod, they have solved this problem, but I do not feel that their starting rotation is good enough to compete with the Braves and Phillies. Also, their infield is declining with Delgado and Castillo.

W/L - 92 - 70

4. Florida Marlins - The Marlins are poised to compete in the next 2 or 3 years, but not right now. Their infield is solid and there outfield is steady, their only problem is their pitching, with a little more pitching acquisitions the Marlins can become, in my mind, the Braves of the 1990’s.

W/L - 87 - 75

5. Washington Nationals - The Nationals improved themselves a lot this off season mostly because of the addition of Adam Dunn. Though are still not ready to compete with any team in the East. Lastings Milledge is a growing star and he and the Nationals have something to look forward to.

W/L - 65 - 97

PLAYOFFS

The Phillies will win the N.L. East and I think that they will make it to the World Series. Though I feel they ultimately lose to the Boston Red Sox.

Now for the Braves, they will win the Wild Card and they will face the Phillies in the NLCS, but the Phillies are too complete to be beaten by the Braves, their offense is too good and their Pitchers are too overpowering.

The N.L. East is really the only division in the National League that’s has 4 teams who can win the division.

I forgot to add that despite what I said, I don't think the Braves will catch the Mets

Don't forget about Francouer..I know he had a down year last year, but there is too much talent there for him to be counted out

Hmm, lets see Brian McCann (two time all star), Garret Anderson (Career .300 batter), Escobar (future all star) and if you haven't realized the Braves rotation has been superb in spring training and the bullpen as well, in addition Javier Vazquez did great in the WBC, the Mets will blow it as usual.

How exactly are the Braves going to finish above the Mets. I will be surprised if the Braves do not finish in dead last. Who other than Chipper can deliver a hit, and the Braves starting rotation is one or two deep on a good week. Not sure why the Mets would be upset by this article it's rubbish...
