NASCAR: Davis Team's Plans Are Set
Written by Hopper, Tuesday March 10 2009
At last. Marc Davis, the 18-year old African American phenom, and his father Harry's family owned race team is set to make its debut at Bristol Motor Speedway on March 14th.
As you probably know, Marc Davis is a development driver for Joe Gibbs Racing. Unfortunately, Gibbs was unable to find sponsorship to run Davis in the NASCAR Nationwide Series in 2009. So, Marc and Harry took matters into their own hands. They bought a pair of Toyotas, and the Davises will go racing in Bristol.
Marc's crew chief will be ARCA star, and brother of Speed TV's Wendy Venturini, Billy Venturini. Billy was Joey Logano's crew chief in his ARCA debut at Rockingham last May, an event Logano dominated and won.
The sponsors will be Howard University, and WHUR 96.3 at Bristol. The team also has backing from Bobcat, which we will see later this year at Infineon Raceway, where Davis is scheduled to make his Cup debut. Additional races on Davis's slate include Richmond, Charlotte, and Dover in the Nationwide Series, and Watkins Glen, as well as some short tracks later on in the year in the Cup series.
So, we shall see what happens with the Davis team. I, as well as many of you probably do, wish Marc, and the entire Davis Motorsports team, the best of luck.

No doubt about that. I'm eager to see what these he does with family owned equipment.
