NASCAR: Allmendinger Lands Sponsor For Vegas

According to the unofficial entry list for Sunday's Shelby 427 at Las Vegas, AJ Allmendinger has landed an additional sponsor. Harrah's Cherokee Casino will be grazing the hood and quarter-panels of Allmendinger's #44 Dodge for Sunday's race, with additional details still unknown.

Allmendinger still does not have full-time sponsorship, but the Harrah's sponsorship will help, if only for a week. Team owner Richard Petty recently said that if Allmendinger continues to run well, he may wind up having to fund the #44 out-of-pocket if he cannot find full-time sponsorship. 2 more potential sponsors attended the California race, showing interest in a deal with the Richard Petty team.

The #44 is not the only car out of the Petty stable in need of sponsorship. Reed Sorenson's #43 is still looking to sell 6 more races to interested sponsors, and Kasey Kahne's #9 is still looking for a major associate sponsor, after the departure of Allstate during the offseason.

Aric Almirola's #8 also picked up a one-race sponsor for Las Vegas. Tom-Tom navigational systems has jumped on board the Earnhardt-Ganassi Chevy, allowing Almirola to race at least one more race. EGR had planned on running three cars, including Martin Truex Jr's #1, Juan Pablo Montoya's #42, and Almirola's #8, but could not find full-time sponsorship for Almirola. The additional sponsor will help them out, but sponsorship opportunities are still available.

If I find out any details on additional sponsorship for these teams, I will keep you posted.
