Mr. Editor, Please Make This A Feature
Written by Chriso, Tuesday July 07 2009
I mean, if you beg, does it still count?
I've been a musician most of my life, and know the old line "Hey Mr. DJ, would you play my song?". So I thought I'd give this a try.
Now I've had a handful of features, and I am happy about that. Plus, someone picks out these cool random pictures for the flashplayer, and I like that too. But eventually, as more features get picked, it goes further into the archives and it disappears.
And maybe that's my problem, I'm writing about baseball, and there are other talented baseball writers here, and soon my stories get bumped to the back of the flashplayer. So I started surfing around the playerpress website to try and find a category that is not used as much, to try and last longer on the flashplayer.
Then I found it under "MORE".... Surfing
Oh, it wasn't that kind of surfing. Well, it was worth a shot, I mean there was a category for video games, so maybe surfing the web could be a sport.
This brings me to another pet peeve. How is poker a sport? I mean, I understand golf, and I understand how some think it is a sport, and some think it is not. I can see both sides of the debate. But poker? Seriously?
Another so-called "sport" is NASCAR, where again, I can see both sides, although some people get really mad if you question whether or not it is legitimate and I still think I could find about a dozen taxi drivers at work in Boston who could outperform these "athletes".
So I continued looking around the site, and found that there was a subject for EATING. Finally, a sport I can participate, analyze, and classify myself as an expert. And I have been in my share of competitions in my younger days, and had some success too. I remember winning a pie-eating contest and an ice cream contest.
While speaking about eating, there was the hot dog contest on the 4th. And someone won by eating an insane number of hot dogs. You could look it up. I know I could have too, and it would probably be better reporting, but I already processed it through my brain one time, and it kind of made me sick the first time, so I thought I'd save myself from repeating it.
So there it is. My article on eating. And a few comments mixed in about what really is a sport. Maybe this is more of a commentary on what constitutes being a sport. Or just a sad attempt to get another feature.
Please, Mr. Editor?
(Editors Note: This article was not featured due to the title or the begging aspect. It was featured because it made me laugh. I like to laugh! So please, do not make begging a habit on Player Press.
Thank you!)

I think Ms. CoraZon is right on the money, you can't letter in poker, you can't letter in Nascar, although some high schoolers try really hard... I know some of my best moments were in a car in high school... wait, maybe that was another sport, bedroom gymnastics

Not gonna lie... I'm totally down for the eating thing as a sport. The real question is this: Is it REALLY a sport if you can't "Letter" in it in High School?

Thank you for the feature and I promise not to beg. Unless begging becomes a sport. Then I might turn pro.
