In the world of the 82 game regular season, the Dallas Mavericks made their early statement to set the bar a bit higher than in previous seasons.  The depth of their roster blazing their defeat of the Charlotte Bobcats kept their undefeated streak against that team alive all the while setting the bar high for their NBA opposition which have doubted the efficiency of the Dallas team.

While it might be a little premature to hush the nay-sayers just yet, tonight’s game against the Memphis Grizzlies will be yet another stepping stone on the Mavs journey to the top of the Western Conference.  With a 7:30 home tip off for Dallas the 1-0 Mavs will meet the 0-1 Grizz for the first of two meetings in less than 20 days.

Dallas has reveled in success against Memphis with 49 franchise wins against the Grizzlies including a 26-4 home record.  They currently hold a 3 game streak against the Grizz with Dirk Nowitzki paving the way for the team with 1,000 career points against the team.

In the last meeting of the two teams in April, Dallas powered through the Grizz outshooting them 55.3% from the field and 57.1% from beyond the arc on their way to a 110-84 win.  Memphis struggled from the charity stripe being dwarfed by the accuracy of Dallas 66.7% to 85.9% while also falling behind the overpowering shadow of Dallas’s ball movement game which netted 28 assists to only 12 by Memphis.

Memphis committed 20 turnovers which enabled 30 Dallas points making it impossible for the Grizz to overcome the early lead by Dallas.

Paving the way for Dallas in tonight’s game will be Jason Kidd, Jason Terry, Tyson Chandler, Caron Butler and Dirk Nowtzki, the second starting line up presented of the season.  While Grizzlies probable starters are Rudy Gay, Darrell Arthur, Hasheem Thabeet, O.J. Mayo and Mike Conley.  Marc Gasol and Zach Randolph will be out for the Grizz while Roddy Beaubois will be missing the action for the Mavs.
