Mark McGwire Is A Cheater

If Major League Baseball has banned Pete Rose from any involvement with the league Mark McGwire should never be allowed to set foot on a Major League Baseball field. If the “Black Sox” who were never proven to have thrown a world series were banned from baseball for life so should Mark McGwire. From his own mouth for several years he had cheated.

While we know he will never be elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame unless it is after my lifetime, if that happens Pete Rose should be on that same ballot. The incredible feats Rose accomplished on the field during his playing career should have put him on the first ballot he was eligible for election.

It will be hard to tell who from the steroids era if any will be elected to the HOF. The voters are already hard to please considering Ron Santo didn’t make it in. A man truly deserving and any Cub fan will tell you they are sure he played his entire career clean.

There is doubt that if McGwire who played on some great teams in Oakland where his drug use began had he stayed clean would have easily gone into the Hall of Fame. Same as Barry Bonds who I will never recognize as the Homerun King. As far as I am concerned the record belongs to Hank Aaron.

I grew up watching the Pirate with their puke yellow helmets and their black hats with the yellow stripes batter around my Cubs with the duo of Barry Bonds and Bobby Bonilla. When Barry went to San Francisco it was like the movie, “The Fan” with Wesley Snipes. Except when Snipes character couldn’t hit he simply stopped putting pressure on himself and he played better. Bonds on the other hand was jealous of the attention other stars were getting though most of them were never the pure hitter he was. He destroyed his body because no one seemed to be paying attention to him. So he goes out to top the one record in baseball it took a lifetime to achieve and like the 55 game hitting streak and Ricky Henderson’s stolen base record, we were sure we would never see it broken. To do so he had to cheat. Smartly he has stayed away from the game of Baseball and Mark McGwire should as well.
