Lebron named MVP
Written by Luke, Monday May 04 2009
As many expected, Lebron will be officially named the league MVP this afternoon. (Monday May 4th)
As many (including myself) believed would happen, Lebron James will be named the NBA MVP for the 2008-09 season. He is the 4th player (although it's happened 6 times) in history to average 28 ppg and win 65 games, and the award isn't surprising at this point. To me, this award was a lock for Lebron, pretty much when he laced his sneakers up for game 1. While there were other players who, in the absence of Lebron in the league would be deserving recipients-Kobe, CP, Wade, maybe even Howard-Lebron is head and shoulders above the rest of the league in terms of skill, ability, and performance. You hate to throw the name around, but as far as dominance in the league noone has had their way with their opponents quite like King James since Michael Jordan's retirement.
Lebron has decided to be named the MVP at his high school in Akron, Ohio where he will be surrounded by his teammates and those closest to him. Look, the only surprising thing about this award is that it's taken this long for people to realize just how good this guy is. He's almost been the best player in the league since the first day he played summer ball as a rookie. I remember watching him here in Boston, where a lot, if not all of his summer league games were played that summer and just being amazed. The things this man can do with a basketball in his hand are jaw-dropping and damn near inhuman. This is certainly the first of many MVP awards, and likely this year will be the first of many NBA championships for Lebron as well, no matter whether he stays with the Cavaliers for his entire career or not.

What? You must be talking about a different league. The East is clearly stronger than the West, the only team in the West that can roll with either Orlando, Bostn, or Cleveland is LA...maybe Denver if they're rolling the way they are now. Houston has some talent, but has never really been able to put it together. And we saw how well LA did last season, ultimately losing the Finals of course. I think Cleveland is the better team, although they did have the two losses, you're correct, which I can't explain how they factor into my belief, lol. While you're welcome to your own opinion however, like I said only one team in the West, maybe two can roll with the top three teams in the East. Wade does currently do more with less, however Lebron has done more consistently no matter who is around him, and dramatically improved in various categories throughout the years. Dwayne and Kobe have skills, sure, but they're both playing for second at best.

I have to disagree Luke. While I think 'Bron has the best overall game in the NBA, I think Wade does more with much, much less. Wade forced a game 7 against the Hawks by himself. So what if they lost. As for 'Bron, until he can hit a jumper consitently, Kobe is the best baller on the planet. Oh, and we'll see about those Cavs in the Finals, didn't they go 0-2 against the Lakers this year, with a loss at home? Besides, the Cavs haven't been tested quite as much as the Lakers. No matter what anyone says, the West is still far better than the East overall.
