Knicks Rock The Palace

FINALLY!

The Knicks played a full game with great effort and the results were very positive.  They destroyed Detroit by the score of 103-80.  It is amazing what playing a little defense can do for a team.  It was also great to watch how much better the offense runs when it is not a post player taking a 15 ft. fade away shot or a point guard coming down the court and hoisting up a wild three.  The three keys to winning last nights game were:

1)  Defense -  Last night the Knicks forced 20 turnovers, a lot of bad shots (37% shooting from the floor for Detroit), and forced Detroit to have a lot of "one and done" possesions.

2)   Great Assist to Turnover ratio - The Knicks had 26 team assist to only 11 team turnovers.

3)  Great ball movement -  The Knicks shot 47% from the field.  Walt Clyde said it during the game...he did not know what the number was but the Knicks were probably close to setting a record for the most slam dunks in a game.  The slam dunks are not what impresses me (however when Amare jammed it in Jason Maxiell's mug..that was nice).  The fact that the Knicks were able to drive, penetrate the lane and dish to the open man was a great sign of some great team work.

Ok, I do not want to get too worked up.  The Knicks defeated a very poor Detroit Pistons team.  Regardless of how poor Detroit is, the Knicks did their job last night and they did it well.  Next week is going to be a good test for the Knickerbockers.  They have 4 tough games.

A)  Charlotte - Revenge game

B)  Philadelphia - First place in the division

C)  Memphis - A very good team (not as good without Z. Randolph)

D)  Oklahoma City - An elite team with one of the best in the game in K. Durant

Next week will show us fellow Knicks fans what the team is made of.  Enjoy the rest of your weekend.
