Joel Bell the new Jason Peters?
Written by Rick Rockwell, Monday May 04 2009
Standing at 6'7" and weighing 315 pounds, Bell is big enough to fill the shoes of former left tackle Jason Peters. The question remains, is he talented enough?
Joel Bell went undrafted this year but was quicly snatched up by the Bills after the draft. Bell has all the makings of an NFL left tackle. He's big, strong, and athletic. He is very raw just like his predecessor Jason Peters was. But they have more in common then just that.
Peters was also undrafted, athletic, big, and wore the #71 jersey just as Bell is wearing during the rookie minicamp.
Bell played for little known Division 1-AA school Furman, located in South Carolina. He was a three-time All-Southern Conference selection.
Bell has great character which stems from his parents. Bell's mother and father were Baptist missionaries. We know how much the Bills need players with high character right now.
We will have to wait and see if Bells can become the next Peters. But you have to like what you see so far.
