For top water action Crazy Crawlers can't be beat!

As far as I am concerned, there is nothing like top water fishing for bass! Throw out a giant bug, bass popper or floating minnow, and the bass will literally leap out of the water to smash your plug. That thrill alone is worth the price of admission right there, and if you have never fished top water for bass, you just do not know what you are missing!

One of my favorite top water baits of all time is called a Heddon Crazy Crawler. It’s so easy to use yet so deadly for bring in top water bass. You can just throw it out, reel and stop, reel and stop, and let the lure do all the work. Bass cannot resist this bait, and they will attack it every chance they get.

This Crazy Crawler has wings on the sides that make an incredible racket in the water. Every time you pull on this lure, the wings flap, and when they flap the bass zero in. Now, during the late spawning period when bass are incredibly aggressive, I have had more than one fish leap out of the air to nail this bait, literally fighting among themselves to see which one gets it first.

It’s slam bam action all the way with the Crazy Crawler, and this is just during the daylight hours, After dark, it gets even better.

If you are into night fishing, this is the lure you want to use. After dark, the bass use their sense of hearing more than their eyesight, and that means that with all the racket the Crazy Crawler makes, it’s virtually a sure thing. Around piers or sunken objects, this bait is a killer after dark. I almost use it exclusively, and on a couple of occasions I have tied into near trophy sized bass on cast after cast.

But, not only do bass hit this lure, northerns and muskies will go for it as well. Throw this on the outskirts of lily pads or tall underwater grass, and you might just as easily end up with a northern pike on the end as you will a bass.

After dark, I have even caught walleye on the surface, that’s how attractive this bait is to all different species of fish. I won’t say it’s a ‘can’t miss’ bait, but if you can’t catch a bass on this thing, then there may not be any bass on the lake you are fishing.

So, try a Heddon Crazy Crawler next time you go out top water bassin’, and get ready for some incredibly exciting top water action.

Thanks for joinin’ me!
