I'm sure you missed me
Written by Chriso, Tuesday February 16 2010
Well I have been gone for a week. Last Tuesday, I wrote about the Colts win, and then put the keyboard away for a while.
If you really want to know, I got married. If you really, really want to know, there is a blog about that too. But let's just keep this about sports, and not about bedroom gymnastics.
While I was gone I heard a brief mention about Rick Pitino going back to the NBA for the Nets. Funny, I remember a time when the Celtics were terrible, and thought they were going to get the first pick, and Pitino came in, and it was a disaster. But the Pitino talk seemed to last one day, more of a sign that it really is a slow sports time right now. B-Dub hit it right on the head in his article.
I've been too busy to really pay any attention to the Winter Olympics, but I am sure the mid Atlantic is still willing to ship Vancouver some snow. I would say something about Danica Patrick getting into a crash, but this is the newlywed Chriso, so I think I would like to keep the peace at home. I also had a few thoughts about Jim Calhoun. The Huskies coach has accomplished so much in his Hall of Fame career, does he need to continue? I want to be clear that I would not want to take away someone's joy or livelihood, but I hope that his medical condition is not being compromised. I'm not a doctor, but sometimes I play one in this blog.
I also noticed that Frank Thomas retired. He could enter the Hall with Randy Johnson. He also could be in conversations where people might accuse him of steroids because of the era. And that is unfair, and that is one of the reasons I think the 104 names in 2003 should come out. Then, if Thomas is not on the list, put away any talk of it or guesses about it.
Red Sox manager Terry Francona was in my neighborhood on his way down to Spring Training for a kid's one day baseball camp. It was interesting to hear him on local radio, and it also brought Sox Talk to the area for a day at least.
That's about all for now, kind of a mixed bag from the old vacation. Not sure what the tags will be, or the sport or team. So to wrap up and give it a definite topic, I am thrilled to announce that I will be in Florida next month to visit Spring Training for the first time. Not sure of all the details, but will blog about some more soon. I will not see the Red Sox in Fort Myers, but will probably catch them on the road.
