How to Stay Undefeated in Professional Boxing?

"You can never say never in this game, but I can't see myself boxing again. I'm proud to be one of only a few fighters in history to retire undefeated" said Joe Calzaghe (news.bbc.co.uk). There have been only a handful of fighters in the history of boxing to retire undefeated. It takes more than just talent to finish a boxing career without a lost. There are many things that can go wrong in a boxing match. What does it take to complete a professional boxing career undefeated?
It is a tall order for a professional boxer to win all their fights. It is more likely to accomplish this feat if a boxer fights all their boxing matches in the same weight division. If a fighter is dominant in a division they need to decide carefully if it is worth it to move up a division because moving up to a higher weight division may lead them to a couple losses and it could be costly to their career. For instance, Felix Trinidad had a perfect record of 40-0 until he moved up to middleweight to challenge Bernard Hopkins. He never lost a boxing match at his best fighting weight of 147 pounds in the welterweight division. Likewise, Shane Mosley did not begin losing in his career until he moved up in weight. He looked unbeatable as a lightweight. He had a record of 38 wins with 36 coming by knockout. But, once he went up to welterweight and junior middleweight he started to lose fights.
Athletes need great consistency to go on winning streaks in their professional caree
