How to make money on NCAA Tournies
It was a lesson I learned a long time ago. I started betting on professional sports in 1997, and from 1997 to 1999 I had a heck of a winning streak. It was uncanny. Friends were paying me for my picks, and I was red hot. I decided I was so good, I was going to pick all the winners in the NCAA 1st round.
Crash and burn.
After losing every single game and being down 3200.00 in a matter of less than 12 hours, i was puking in my toilet, wondering one, where the heck I was going to come up with 3200.00 by Monday, two, do they really kill people over 3200.00, and three, what the heck happened? My hot streak went south faster than a girl on the Atlantic City Boardwalk at night ( shout out to my East Coast family ).
My friend Dick, who knew NCAA basketball like a crooked lawyer knows all the loopholes in the laws, made a reference to the NCAA tournament as you would explain to a women you had just used..." Don't hate the player, hate the game." Dick would go 9 for 9 on parlays, on a regular basis.
Meaning, you can't play by the same rules you play with in normal life ( in this case, betting). I used his advise and bet every single underdog the next day, and WON every single game and was only down 200.00 at the end.
Since then, I use that formula to this day. I bet all the underdogs, and ATS they are a 79% winner ( 2011 tourney not calculated yet). 2009 was my worst year, the underdogs only won 59 % (ATS) and then once the herd is thinned out, your can make your plays as normal, and with that Im am only a 61% winner ( ATS).
Point being, bet the underdogs (ATS) in the beginning rounds until the touney gets to 16 teams, then play normal, and you winning percentages should blow away any loosing streaks you may encounter. Good luck.
