Hall Calls Class of 2009 Inductees
Written by Brian Kintz, Tuesday June 23 2009
The Hockey Hall of Fame will welcome four new inductees this November in Toronto. This afternoon that foursome was announced, and the names came as no surprise to most.
In what should go down as one of the strongest Hall of Fame classes in recent memory, this year's crop is headlined by long-time Detroit Red Wing captain Steve Yzerman, two-time Stanley Cup winner Brett Hull, "The Great One's" long-time linemate Luc Robitaille, and the only member of this class with any ties to the New England area, long-time Ranger and former BC Eagle and Boston Bruin, defenseman Brian Leetch. Also joining this illustrious group in Toronto on November 9th will be New Jersey Devils GM Lou Lamoriello, who will be honored as an inductee in the "builders' category."
Brett Hull, who together with father Bobby who was inducted into the Hall in 1983, will become the first father-son pair to be deemed Hall-worthy. Another interesting note amongst these great players is the fact that three of them, Hull, Yzerman, and Robitaille, all shared in Cup glory together, as members of the 2002 championship team in Detroit.
Amongst those greats who had their afternoons go by without the Hall call they had hoped for, four-time All Star Alexander Mogilny, and journeyman forward Dave Andreychuk, who spent his long career with six different teams, including a short stint with the Bruins during the 1999-2000 season.

Growing up in Michigan, Steve Yzerman was the most admired hockey player. Way to go Steve!
