Gareth Bale made Maicon look senseless

Tottenham’s Gareth Bale made Maicon look like a high school fullback. If that was the first game you have ever watched you would have guessed that Maicon isn’t any good.
Maicon is one of the best fullbacks in the entire world. Gareth Bale (Wales) made him look so silly yesterday. I am not saying this because Bale is my favorite player, or because we share a Welch background, but I am saying this because Bale has improved so much in the past year. He is turning into the best left midfielders in the world. It is great to see such a young Welsh player do such a thing.
The first time I watched Bale was in an international friendly on ESPN360. Wales was playing a team I cannot remember. He stood out to me to be the best player on the team. He showed flashes of brilliance, but it didn’t amount to anything. I have followed him to Tottenham and what an explosion we have seen.
His brilliance on the ball is outshined by his brilliance with his crosses. He sets up players better than anybody in this era of soccer. You do not see him over pass somebody a lot. If it is a corner kick, it generally is in a danger area for a goal. His passes are so crisp.
The bottom line is that Maicon was just outplayed twice in a row by Bale. Is this a statement by Bale? I think it was. I think that in a year or two when we talk about who the best player in the world is, Gareth Bale will be at the top of the list.
