Fresh Fish Nutrition Facts = YUMMY

There's some good eatin' !
We all love to eat fresh fish, don’t we? I don’t think there is a more tasty food out there than fresh fish. Whether it’s fried, breaded, seasoned, baked, sautéed, or grilled, there is nothing better for my taste buds than fresh fish.
But from a nutritional standpoint, what do we really know about fresh fish? It’s actually easy to find nutritional values for commercial fish like tuna or salmon, but what about bluegill, or walleye, pike or perch? Well fresh fish eaters, look no further, because the Fishin’ Guy has gotten the lowdown on nutritional facts just for you!
By and large, this is going to sound strange, but in a general sense, North American fish of all types, have incredibly similar nutritional facts. I was fairly well astounded thinking that there had to be some major variance between such dissimilar fish as a perch to a bass or a bass to a musky, but truth be told, the figures I will lay out here, can be substituted for virtually any fresh water fish.
Take any 4 oz fillet and bake it with spices only, no oil, and you will have a mere 148 calories. That’s it! This means, if you literally gorged yourself on 2 pounds of fish, you would only take in about 1184 calories. Considering that 2500 calories is the accepted food intake for healthy living, you could eat 4 pounds of fish per day, and still be under the limit!
Oh yes, and it gets better than that. Along with those few calories there is 30 grams of protein in each fillet. 30 grams of protein is about 60% of your recommended daily allowance. Needless to say, if anyone is looking to bulk up muscles, this is the food for you!
Still, it even gets better! Fish is loaded with Omega 3 fatty acids, and that is the substance that that is so beneficial and healthy for your heart. Omega 3 breaks up the bad cholesterol in your system and gets it out of your system, not allowing it to clog up your arteries.
Now then, with all that said, remember this is just for baked fish. Frying in any kind of oil or adding a breaded coating will increase the calorie content. To maintain a healthy option when frying, always use olive oil, which itself is heart healthy.
Eating fresh fish is about the best thing you can put into your body from a nutritional standpoint, and from a taste standpoint, as far as I am concerned, there is nothing better!
Thanks for joinin’ me!
