Eagles-Seahawks Postgame: Season's Over

However you want to say it, the Philadelphia Eagles season is now officially over.  Oh sure, they still have to play the four games left on their schedule, but they will all be completely meaningless.

Of course, the Eagles players treated the first 12 games of this season as if they were all meaningless, so how exactly will we be able to tell the difference?

This game may have been the worst loss in a horrible season filled with bad losses.  I guess the Cardinals loss was just as bad, but the team went into the game knowing that this was a must win game and they came up lame.  Pathetic.

I predicted the loss, but even I thought the Eagles would show more heart than they did.  This is the most embarrassing team that I have ever had the misfortune of rooting for.  The entire team seems to have quit and that reflects directly back on the head coach.  Andy Reid must go.

I got a ton of grief for suggesting that all Eagles fans should root for a 3-13 record a few weeks ago, but now I bet I get a few fans on my 4-12 bandwagon.  It's the only way to get rid of Reid.

Reid picked all of these players that quit like dogs on this season.  Reid picked all these coaches who are completely overmatched game after game.  Reid is the one who can't manage the game clock or ever make an in-game adjustment.  So Reid must be the one to go.

There was plenty of blame to go around in this loss.  The defense couldn't stop the Seahawks and the offense couldn't stop turning the ball over.  Not exactly a recipe for success.  It should also not have been a surprise.  That is what this team has done all season.

Vince Young had one of the worst games I have ever seen from a quarterback.  He completed only 17 of 29 passes for 208 yards, with 1 TD and 4 INTs.  His very first pass of the game was intercepted and it wasn't going to get any better the rest of the game.  His first three interceptions led directly to 21 Seattle points and the fourth one was a ridiculously bad decision to float a wounded duck out into the flat, when the Eagles were already in scoring position, that was returned 77 yards for the final TD of the game.

The Seahawks literally have one weapon on offense and yet the Eagles allowed Marshawn Lynch to gain 148 yards on 22 carries and score 2 TDs.  His first TD was a 15 yard run where he somehow escaped a pile of Eagles defenders in the middle of the field to score.  His second TD was a 40-yard scamper off right tackle where he wasn't even touched.  Both plays showed a complete lack of effort by the Eagles defense.

The Eagles defense was so thoroughly dominated that a terrible quarterback like Tavaris Jackson completed 13 of 16 passes for 190 yards and 1 TD.  He probably could have done more, but with Lynch dominating the game, he didn't have to.

Once again, Reid didn't bother to use his best player enough.  LeSean McCoy leads the NFL in rushing, yet he only got 17 carries in the entire game.  He also was the entire offense for the Eagles in this game as he gained 84 yards rushing and scored both of the Eagles TDs (1 rushing, 1 receiving).

The Eagles again cost themselves with stupid penalties, which also points to bad coaching.  They had a defensive holding penalty on 3rd down that gave the Seahawks a first down instead of having to punt with 10:02 left in the game when the score still only 24-14.  The Eagles had to waste a timeout late in the game when they had 12 men on the field to receive a punt.  Things like that just don't happen to well-coached teams.

I can't even work up a good anger at these heartless, gutless losses anymore.  I now go into the games fully expecting the Eagles to lose.  It's just a matter of watching to see what new and interesting ways they manage to lose each week.  There was an obvious lack of effort on the defensive side of the ball and Young was putrid yet again.

Hell I think Andy Reid and the rest of the Eagles front office were the ones who were dreaming when they signed Young.  Young is the most overrated player in the NFL today.  He stinks and he doesn't seem to give a damn that the team is losing.  Anybody else ready to see if Mike Kafka can be a backup in the NFL next year?

Seriously, there is absolutely nothing left to play for this season.  It's time to play the backups and see who is worth keeping for next season after they fire Reid and blow up this roster of gutless quitters.

There are four games left on the schedule for the Philadelphia Eagles but the season is already over.  Some of us knew it was over weeks ago.

Oh God no. Vick and Young are hard enough to watch screw up. The Bears can have McNabb. He's a Chicago boy. And I was right about McNabb all along when everybody criticized me for ripping him. The same will be true of Andy Reid when he finally leaves Philly.
