Eagles go into the bye week on a high note
Written by Jovan Alford, Monday October 17 2011
On Sunday afternoon, The Philadelphia Eagles beat the Washington Redskins 20-13 and put themselves back into the NFC East division race. The Eagles started off a little rough on their first drive but got the ball back from an interception thrown by Redskins QB Rex Grossman. Grossman had 4 ints on the day and all four intercepted passes were by the Eagles safeties Nate Allen and Kurt Coleman. Kurt Coleman had a career day with three interceptions. No Eagles player has had three interceptions in a game since the 1960s.
Now this Eagles defense stepped up big time especially in the run game. They held all three Redskins RBs (Hightower, Helu, and Torain) to a total of 42 rushing yards. That is outstanding for a run defense that was getting torched by RBs such as Fred Jackson, Michael Turner, and Frank Gore just to name a few.
This Eagles team is going into the bye week with a record of 2-4 and 1-1 in the division. Andy Reid's teams in the past after the bye are pretty good. After the bye week the Eagles will play those Dallas Cowboys on Sunday Night Football on the night before Halloween. Maybe the Eagles defense can give the Dallas Cowboys offense a house of horrors.
