Don't Tase the Philly Fan Bro

There is a new taser video making the rounds on the internet.  Unlike the "Don't Tase Me Bro" dude in 2007, this guy was a Philadelphia sports fan.

I know what you're thinking, but even the national media isn't making this out to be another in a long line of unjustified rants on the bad Philly fans.  No, this was just some 17-year old dope who decided it would be a fun idea to jump a railing and run around in the outfield of the Phillies-Cardinals game on Monday night at Citizens Bank Park.

The kid actually had some moves that I'm sure were inspired by the same 12 oz. containers of liquid courage that gave him the bright idea to run onto the field in the first place.  That doesn't make him unique though.  There are stupid fans running onto the field in every city in America.

The thing about this one is, the media isn't concerned so much about the fact that it was a Philly fan, so much as they seem to think tasing this dimwit was an unnecessary use of force.  Uh, excuse me.  This Mensa member was breaking the law, so he got what he deserved.

It seemed to me from the video that the cop was just tired of running after this kid, so he figured he would end the chase once and for all.  Point, pull trigger, Zap!  Perp down.

The kid walked off the field under his own power so he was fine.  To say using the taser on him was excessive force is ludicrous.  What, tackling him would have been more humane?  Screw that.  This punk broke the law and he got tasered.  For his little trek across the green grass he was charged with criminal trespass and related offenses, according to the Phillies.

For those of you who are dumb enough to think that it was just another example of boorish Philly fan behavior, I will tell you that you are wrong.  This isn't even the first time a fan has been tasered at a sporting event.  Philadelphia Inquirer writer Peter Mucha was nice enough to post a few recent examples of fans getting tasered on the newspaper's website.

In January, Indianapolis police tasered a Jets fan outside the stadium before an NFL playoff game.  The New Yorker was allegedly being verbally abusive and throwing beer at people.  I would have tased him twice for wasting the beer, but that's just me.  "Cops grabbed the guy, threw him against their patrol car, punched him in the back of the head and then tasered him," a witness said.  Seems to me that the Philly cops and security personnel treated their kid with, pardon the expression, "kid gloves".

In August, Oakland police tasered Thomas Bruso, 62, while he sat in the stands swearing and being belligerent.  He was caught sneaking alcohol into the stadium and refused to get up out of his seat.  That's when they tased him.  I'm thinking it was really because the team was mad about not getting him to pay $8 for a beer at the concession stand.  In any event, Bruso was taken to a hospital for psychiatric evaluation.

In October 2008, a couple of Red Sox fans were tasered in the stands in Tampa's Tropicana Field for unruly behavior.  A month before that an officer allegedly put a taser to a Red Sox fan's head, but didn't fire.  The cop probably figured it wouldn't affect a Red Sox fan if he shot him in his empty head.

A minor league hockey team, the New England Stars, had a brawl in the stands where there were several arrests and three police officers were injured.  What is it with the Boston fans?  Anyway, Mike Bernardi was tasered during the fight, but said the experience wasn't painful.  "Sort of like putting jumper cables on your ears," he said.  Two things:  First of all, I have never hooked jumper cables up to my ears so I'm just going to take his word on that.  And secondly, who else is happy (and actually surprised) that he didn't equate the experience to having jumper cables on another body part that hangs down?

I am actually happy that the media didn't take the easy way out by just making the focus of the story all about the bad fan behavior in Philadelphia.  This was one stupid kid, who probably didn't realize how much trouble he was going to get in for a stupid prank.  And I'm sure he never thought he'd get lit up like a Christmas tree.

The kid is fine, except for his permanent record that may haunt him for the rest of his life.  Of course, in today's world, he'll probably become a media star or just hire a lawyer and sue the police.  If either of those things happen, I think they should taser him again....TWICE.

I found ANOTHER instance of a fan getting Tased and the media ignored it. It seems that the stepfather of Bston Celtics guard Marquis Daniels was arrested and subdued with a taser during Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Finals. 55-year old Willie Buie was charged with resisting arrest with violence. Sorry to keep ruining the myth that only Phily fans are bad for the national media. I'm here to educate.

It's funny how a guy gets Tasered at a golf outing over the weekend and NOBODY says anything about it. So a guy breaks the law by running onto the field and gets Tasered and the national media is all over it becaue it's in Philly, but some guy gets Tasered because he dares to talk bad about the great and powerful Tiger Woods and it's ignored? Seems to me the national media should get up off their knees in front of Tiger Woods and try being objective for a change. Same goes for the people on here who try to paint ONLY Philly fans as the bad apples. Sorry guys, but you simply can't ignore the facts, you know, unless you're ESPN and are obligated to act like one of Tiger's whores all the time.

Yeah Flash, so sorry to introduce some facts into your world. You seem so much better off living in your own little world where what you believe is the only truth out there. I always provide plenty of examples to back up everything I say. That's what I did here. And Chris, I wasn't picking on the Bosotn fans. I was only reporting what another print media member had uncovered. And I gave him full credit for his work. Again, just supplying the facts here.

Come on, B-Dub, picking on the Boston fans and then dropping the o from St. Louis? I like how the Philly fans cheered him walking off on his own...

Great, another excuse for B-Dub to claim that other fans are just as obnoxious as Philly fans. Watching this guy get tased is hilarious, though
