Dale Tallon Made Mistakes But You Can't Deny the Impact He Had on the Blackhawks

It comes as no surprise to see former Blackhawk general manager, Dale Tallon, with another job, doing the same thing he did here in Chicago.

This time it's with the Florida Panthers.

I am happy for Tallon. He didn't get enough credit for the team he help build. A team that he put together, that now has a great chance at winning a Stanley Cup. Sure, criticize him for paying Cristobal Huet and Brian Campbell too much money, but the positive impact Tallon has made to the Hawks, no doubt, weigh over the negatives.

Tallon has drafted Jonathan Toews, Patrick Kane, Duncan Keith, Brent Seabrook, and also Niklas Hjarmarsson, while also acquiring Patrick Sharp, Marian Hossa, Antti Niemi, Kris Versteeg, Ben Eager, Andrew Ladd, Tomas Kopecky, John Madden, Cristobal Huet, Jordan Hendry, Brent Sopel, and Brian Campbell.

He also helped bring in Adam Bursih, Dustin Byfuglien, Troy Brouwer, and Dave Bolland.

Look at all those names, and look at the Hawks now. Every one of those players contribute to the team's chances. Every one of those is valuable talent to the Hawks, and what makes them the most balanced team, in terms of contribution, in the NHL.

He is THE reason the Hawks are in the Western Conference Finals for the second year in a row. He is THE reason the Hawks are one of the most up-and-coming franchises after being one of the worst in all of sports.

His ability to turn around such a struggling franchise into a powerhouse, coveted by all teams in the NHL can not be thanked or praised enough. The reason I, and thousands of others, are happy for their Hawks, is him. Yes, we all hate Huet, but Tallon did give us Niemi.

Looking at Niemi play in the playoffs, I now have full confidence that this kid can be a great goaltender for the Hawks.

So, if the Hawks win the Stanley Cup, you have Dale Tallon to thank, but even if the Hawks don't, you still have Dale Tallon to thank because he put everything there you need to be successful. It's the team that would be failing the team, not the former GM.
