College Basketball

College Basketball has been playing games for a couple of weeks now. But this is the time where we see teams playing at home and not some senseless Puerto Rico Tip-Off.

The four number one seeds as of right now (best in the country)
1.       Duke- Could they be better than last season? I don’t think they are or will be when tournament time comes around. I think the loss of Jon Scheyer will doom the Blue Devils during tournament time. Teams need veteran point guards to win close games in March. I like Kyrie Irving, but right now he isn’t Scheyer. Duke is clearly the best team in College Basketball, but they will fall in March.

2.       Ohio State- How do you not like what Ohio State offers? I love Jared Sullinger (freshman) and their backcourt of Jon Diebler and David Lighty. Expect William Buford to have a great season.

3.       Pittsburgh- This team is the deepest team in America. They can easily go 10 or 11 deep. They might not be the most talented bunch, but that is not how Pittsburgh wins basketball games. They play good defense and grind out victories.

4.       Kansas State- I still like Kansas State even though they got blown out against Duke. Jacob Pullen is a great candidate for Big 12 player of the year.
This week’s games include the BIG 10/ACC challenge. Virginia already upset Minnesota.  Here are my picks for the rest of the games.
Ohio State over Florida State
Northwestern over Georgia Tech
Wake Forest over Iowa
Illinois over North Carolina
Clemson over Michigan
Indiana over Boston College
Wisconsin over North Carolina State
Virginia Tech over Purdue
Penn State over Maryland
Duke over Michigan State
BIG 10 win for the second straight year, 6-5.
