So usually when Washington leads by two at the end of the first, they end up with the points in the W column. Not tonight, The Leafs gave the Caps a run for their money and the unsuspecting Caps coughed up a huge victory.

Within the first two minutes of the game, goal tender Vesa Toskala got his team a delay of game penalty for freezing the puck way out of his crease. Ovechkin shoots a bomb and the puck flies past Toskala, giving the Caps their first tally on the board.

Just a few minutes later, Ovechkin makes a beautiful pass to Nicklas Backstrom for the tap in, pushing the Leafs further into their deficit. With 7:45 left in the period, Washington goes on another power play, but Toronto's penalty killers did a good job of keeping the puck out of their net. The score stays 2-0 Caps until the second period. 1:29 into the 2nd, Toronto scores on a 2-1.

Stajan beats Michal Neuvirth, and cuts the Caps lead to one. Once again, a few minutes later, the Leafs on the power play for Mike Green's tripping penalty. Kessel scores with an assist by defensemen Kaberle. The score is tied at 2. The Caps won't go down without a fight. Just about 11 minutes left in the game, Ovechkin makes another stellar pass to Nicklas Backstrom, and he beats Toskala again, to get his second of the night.

The Capitals seemed to fall asleep after that, Juricina coughed up a clear, and Hagman flies it past Neuvirth and ties the score. It's all Leafs after that. The start of the 3rd was all hitting, but Toronto would bolster their score by three. Stajan gets the lead 5 minutes into the third. The Leafs have their first lead of the night. Erskine takes a penalty, goes off to the sin bin,  adding to the 2 Power Plays Toronto has had this evening.

The Caps will try to redeem themselves, when both teams play 4-4 hockey. Attempt failed. Leafs' penalty runs out, Caps on the power play. With 42 seconds left on the man advantage, Toronto gets a short handed goal against Neuvirth, making the score 5-3. Close to the end of the game, Maple Leafs go on another power play, totaling 4 for the night. They score, crushing Washington 6-3.

Michal Neuvirth's record in the NHL: 2-3
