Brian Bruney, Settle Down

Brian Bruney, Yankees RP, had this to say about K-Rod and Friday night's game:

"Couldn't have happened to a better guy on the mound, either. He's got a tired act. He gets what he deserves, man. I just don't like watching the guy pitch. I think it's embarrassing ... You know what? I learned to play the game a different way, that's all I can say. You won't see me do that, the way he acts, you won't see that. But it doesn't matter. Guy's doing his job, he's had a great career, set the saves record. So it doesn't matter what I think. I'm sure I'm not the only one who thinks that but, again, he doesn't know who I am, so it doesn't matter."

K-Rod responded basically by saying "Who the hell is Brian Bruney?"  First off, how does K-Rod deserve a loss and a blown save for a mistake that Luis Castillo made? K-Rod pitched well enough to get the save so I don't see how he "deserved" it. While many people don't like K-Rod for his celebrations after he gets a save, who is Brian Bruney to complain to the media and not to K-Rod directly. Bruney doesn't have enough of a track record to make a statement like that. It is also a bit outrageous when you are teammates with a guy who may actually do MORE unnecessary celebrations than K-Rod in Joba, who likes to celebrate everytime he throws a strike. So Bruney once you are one of the best pitchers in the game and set the saves record for a single season, then maybe you can talk but even then, don't leave out your own teammates when doing it.
