Blazers Even Series with Rockets 1-1

Blazer fans can breathe a sigh of relief as Portland evened the series with the Rockets Tuesday night, and avoided falling two games to none to Houston in the first round.  Brandon Roy scored the second highest playoff total in Blazer franchise history with 42 points, and lead the team through a scrappy, emotional win, securing a return home to the Rose Garden for game 5.

The game swayed early on, and the Blazers worked to erase the memory of Saturday night's disastrous blowout.  The Rockets, meanwhile, looked to carry the momentum from a game in which they shot an impressive 59% from the field, with Yao Ming going 9 for 9, and 6 for 6 at the free throw line.  This time however, Yao was held to just 3 of 6 shooting, and finished the game with 11 points.  Just as importantly, the Blazers managed to shut down Aaron Brooks, who ran all over them in the first game with 27 points.

The Blazers held out long enough to fend off the Rockets, despite a surge in which Brooks hit a trio of three's in the final minute, but now Portland faces it's biggest test on the road in Houston.  It's a dog fight the rest of the way, and the match ups between Brandon Roy and Ron Artest, Lamarcus Aldridge and Luis Scola, and Greg Oden and Yao Ming will be interesting to watch develop as they prove who will advance among the weight of both team's expectations.
