The King Tampers With His Kingdom
Written by Daniel Turner, Wednesday July 07 2010
Richard Petty Motorsports have had a few busy days since the holiday weekend and Saturday’s race at Daytona. It started on race night when Petty and A.J.Allmendinger exchanged words after the finish. Allmendinger turned and walked away from The King after a disappointing showing.
Once can’t blame Allmendinger if Daytona brings out the worse in him. In February he led for seven laps until brushing fenders with Jeff Gordon which resulted in a 32nd place finish. On Saturday he was forced to swerve to miss hitting Kyle Busch and ended up in the infield. RPM’s Executive Vice President Robbie Loomis wrote off the altercation between driver and owner to the bent of their competitive natures.
Yesterday, Petty announced that Todd Parrott has been named the new crew chief for Elliott Sadler’s No. 19 Ford. Parrott moves from his position as R&D Manager for Roush Fenway Racing to assume the RPM position. Parrott and Sadler were teamed with Robert Yates Racing in 2004.
