Suspended Oregon quarterback Jeremiah Masoli was kicked off of the team on Wednesday following a citation for marijuana possession and driving infractions issued by the police two days earlier.

According to police reports, a Springfield police officer cited Masoli late on Monday night on charges of possessing less than one ounce of marijuana, driving with a suspended license and failure to stop when entering a roadway.

Masoli can either pay a fine or make an appearance in court on June 24 and contest the accusations.

In a statement issued by the university, Masoli was dropped because he did not "adhere to obligations" outlined by coach Chip Kelly. Kelly declined to comment on the issue.

Masoli was already suspended for the entire 2010 season after by Coach Kelly because the QB pleaded guilty to burglary for his part in stealing a guitar along with some laptop computers from one of the schools fraternities.

In hopes of returning for the 2011 season, Masoli remained on scholarship and participated in the teams’ practices this spring. He has one season of eligibility remaining.

This offense probably means his football career at Oregon is over.

Masoli threw for 2,147 yards and 15 touchdowns last season and rushed for 668 yards and scored 13 touchdowns in a season that ended with a Rose Bowl loss to Ohio State.

He finished his Oregon career with 1,386 rushing yards, the most ever by an Oregon quarterback.
