Blackhawks One Win Away
Written by Christopher Corazon, Monday June 07 2010
The Chicago Blackhawks are one win away from raising the Stanley Cup for the first time since 1961. Dustin Byfuglien scored two goals and had two assists for the Blackhawks. Chicago won 7-4 to take a 3-2 series lead. It has been a series that has contradicted age old rules of hockey as well as recent trends.
An age old rule is that defense wins championships. In hockey, they say you can ride a hot goaltender to the Stanley Cup. This series, on the other hand, has been full of offense. Chicago has 21 goals, Philadelphia has 19. The lowest scoring game was game 2, 2-1. Two games have had 11 goals scored.
A recent trend in these playoffs was that home ice has not been an advantage. Four series have been decided by a seventh game, each time the game was won by the road team. Chicago also put an impressive winning streak on the road. The road teams were 27-22 in the first round of the playoffs. The home team has won every game in the Finals.
