Germany is a nation that has had its share of controversy. Their past is one that is best left alone since too many skeletons are going to turn up. However, Germany has moved forward and attempts to continue on that path. They are accustomed to enemies and confrontation. Now they are in the sights of the UFC.

Last year UFC 99 was staged in Cologne, Germany and was considered a success. Germany took a different view claiming UFC fights contain "extent of violence shown to be unacceptable." That was the rationale used to remove UFC events from German television.

UFC President Dana White, who has also had his share of controversy, has declared that his organization intends to go back to Germany. He envisions a return as soon as this year. White maintains that UFC does not back down or hide in a closet when faced with opposition. He stated that UFC would come out with guns blazing.

White maintains that UFC represents the world of mixed martial arts worldwide. If Germany is not willing to welcome UFC events than White is prepared to make them see the light of his reasoning as he continues to push for his organizations presence.

White adds that UFC’s mission is to build and promote the sport and they won’t stop. Ontario, Canada does not recognize or sanction UFC cards, but they are opening an office in that Province to prove they are viable and not going away.

A UFC event is scheduled for England in October and, although nothing is currently set for Germany, White states it could occur shortly thereafter. UFC 99 was successful in both Germany and outside of the country.
