Krzyzewski Not Going Anywhere

Mike Krzyzewski is flattered by all of the media reports that bring up his name for numerous NBA coaching jobs; he continues to insist that he is not interested and has no thoughts of leaving Duke.

Krzyzewski admitted on Wednesday that "it's more of a compliment -- it's not an insult" to hear his name brought up for several NBA coaching vacancies. However, he continues to reaffirm that regardless of the rumors and speculations that he is not going anywhere.

"You just can't take it further than that, because then you're trying to milk the situation for the wrong thing," he said. "So I'd rather nip it right away and move on."

In a humorous coy, Krzyzewski defused the NBA rumors by wisecracking that "my position hasn't changed. I hope Duke's position hasn't changed."

This is not the first time Krzyzewski has been rumored to be in line for an NBA job, and it probably will not be the last.

Last summer, there were reports of him taking over for Phil Jackson in Los Angeles, and in 2004, he turned down a $40 million contract to coach the Lakers.

This year, the New Jersey Nets and the Cleveland Cavaliers have been mentioned as possible NBA teams for Coach K.

Hours before the national championship game, he shot down the Nets reports with a big thanks but no thanks.

Cleveland was thought to be a strong candidate because Krzyzewski and LeBron James have formed a bond during their three stints together with the U.S. national team. In addition, in the 1980s, Cavs general manager Danny Ferry was a Duke star for Krzyzewski.

"I never put my name in” and “I’m very, very happy here at Duke," continues to be heard from Coach K concerning an NBA coaching job.
