John Wall prepares himself for NBA Draft

For the last two years since he was a high school senior, John Wall of Kentucky has been billed as the top pick in the 2010 NBA draft.

Even though Wall has led the Wildcats to 35 wins, an SEC title and an Elite Eight appearance, most of the anticipation surrounding him was about the draft and when he would be picked.

"It was tough," Wall said early Tuesday. "I was 17 years old at the time and everyone was telling me about it. I had to block out, stay hungry and humble.”

Wall was not all about basketball either as he had a 3.5 grade point average at Kentucky. The rest of the team had a seven-year low of 2.025.

The classroom isn't the only place where Wall is getting good marks.

ESPN.com polled a third of the league and the consensus was that Wall would be the No. 1 overall pick.

Wall probably won't have to go through interviews with NBA teams since he's likely only going to interview at the site of the team with the top pick and maybe No. 2 or possibly No. 3 as a safety net.

Though he only lost three games in his brief collegiate career, Wall said he'll be able to handle going to a team with a losing record just like he went to Kentucky after it had a down year before he got there.

Wall was indeed part of a talented Kentucky team, but his talent stood out compared to his teammates. His exceptional speed at the point from one end to the other separates him from other point guards. Wall led the Wildcats with 16.6 points a game but shot only 32.5 percent on 3-pointers.

For now, all that Wall can do is work to improve his game and wait to see which team will gets the first pick and will likely take him with that pick.
