34-0 is Finally Good Enough to Reach the Top

Rockwall-Heath High School, Rockwall, TX was probably wondering what it takes to reach number one in baseball. They have continued their run toward perfection throughout the regular season and into the Texas 4A state playoffs. After taking their first two games in the playoffs they were rewarded for their unblemished record when previously top ranked Walsh Jesuit, Cuyahoga Falls, OH lost to St. Edward courtesy of a walk off homer.
Rockwall-Heath had better continue their perfect season if they want to remain atop the pile since Sumrall, MS is close behind in the two spot with a 31-1 record. The Sumrall Bobcats completed a playoff sweep with two wins over St. Andrews Episcopal.
Rounding out the top five continues with Canyon del Oro, Tucson, AZ in the number three spot. The Dorados ended the season with a 27-2 record. They won their 4A-I state playoff games with a shutout victory over Catalina Foothills; 6-0 final score, and an 8-3 win over Kellis.
Number four Parkview, Lilburn GA, unleashed their power in the AAAAA state playoffs. The Panthers stomped Kennesaw Mountain 16-9 and 9-5. Their record is 25-3.
Pace, FL secured the number five position with a 25-2 record. In the 5A state playoffs the Patriots shutout Niceville 10-0 and continued to manufacture runs with a 9-3 whipping of Milton. It was the second time in two weeks that they topped Milton. The first win over Milton gave Pace the District 1 championship.
Former number one Walsh Jesuit dropped to number nine after their 5-4 loss to St. Edward.
