Pittsburgh Steelers Lose One and Wonder When They will get Another Back

When a team is trying to prepare for the coming season it helps to have all your starters present and accounted for. Pittsburgh is able to account for two of their, but the duo is nowhere near the practice field.

Limas Sweed is done for the season long before the first pre-season game is played. During a mini-camp session on May 2 the former Texas Longhorn and second round draft pick suffered a torn left Achilles tendon.

Sweed did little to factor into last season and registered only one catch. He was waived by the Steelers and then placed on the reserve/ injury list. The other missing player for the Steelers has been missing from practice for other reasons.

Ben Roethlisberger has been ordered to stay away from the team while he undergoes a series of tests mandated by the league as part of his suspension. The tests are meant to try and see if there is any reason medically for the recent behavior that the quarterback has been reported as having.

Recently he was accused of sexual assault against a 20 year old in Milledgeville, GA. The case was dropped by the district attorney when it was deemed that the evidence was insufficient to make a case; the victim declined to press charges as well.

NFL commissioner Roger Goodell suspended Roethlisberger for the first six games of the season. Once the mandatory behavior analysis is complete he will be allowed to participate in the optional team activities that the Steelers have scheduled.
